I'd give the "1st" award to the commentators of last weekend's game. Jimmy just collaborating what they had said.

Good point but

To be fair there were reports here last week he was getting a second opinion and CBJ did state last week they were hoping he wasn't lost for the year

Kirkland has the instincts, playmaking ability, smarts and speed to be big time. Its just a matter of time.

I think most everyone would agree that Kirkland will be the starter at some point. However, with as loud as it will be when we're on D this Saturday, Jumper seems to be the best communicator/set-up guy for that MLB spot right now.

I didn't see anything on Saturday that would indicate Jumper is better at communicating/setting up than what I saw from Bynum last year. Did you? I saw defensive players throw their hands up in confusion pre-snap not knowing what they should be doing.

My take: Bynum must be in the coaches' doghouse to not be a viable candidate for MLB starting nod. I agree Kirkland is the future, but Bynum should be the interim (unless there's a disciplinary message being sent)

I saw a lot of confusion when Jumper was in too. Not sure what he does well at all TBH. He cant even tackle if he's fortunate enough to get to the ball carrier.

Did Phillips play on Saturday within the 1st 3 quarters.
Also Kirkland def has the closing speed to be an excellent LB for us this yr.

I haven't went back and focused on the MLB position but what I've heard from those that know more than myself anyways that what they asked Kirkland to do was much simpler. Jumper supposedly has a more thorough grasp of the whole defense.

Yea I don't get it, thought Bynum did a fine job in the Gator bowl.

Not impressed by Jumper at all, he got shook a few times and took the wrong lane on the early 4th and 3 conversion that went for 20+.

On that 4th down play, he reminds me of Jacques Smith.

Remember when he would just run right into the blocker? Jumper just went right into the blocker opening up the lane for the back to run right through

I am willing to give him a pass on the 4th and 3 because I don't think he nor many others on our defense thought the ball was going to be snapped. I know I didn't. After they came to line and didn't snap it early in the play clock I thought they were going to call a TO or just let the play clock expire. I think the players relaxed

I'm not sure what the situation is with Bynum either, but (JMO) I don't think he's in the doghouse. I actually think they're trying to keep him happy by putting him on the official depth chart (even if not at MLB) behind JRM at Will. I don't think Bynum is a better fit behind JRM at Will than McDowell, but that's how they're putting it on the depth chart. All camp, we heard how Jumper has the speed to make plays at MLB, and he knows the defense according to Jancek, so I was just saying it makes sense for them to want him in there calling alignments over a true freshman that may just not be ready to do that in such a loud environment. Kirkland is clearly the best talent of the bunch, and I hope he takes the reigns for good, soon. Again, JMO. TIFWIW.

Run stopping safety?... Sure. :good!:

Florida game would work too. He's hell on mobile QBs sneaking out of the backfield. He decleated Driskel so violently last year they called targeting just because it looked so bad. Reviewed and overturned. Loved it.

Phillips didn't play until last drive. I don't really know why besides that they may have felt the BG quick pass game didn't fit his style. You could see when he got in how special he can be. Dude is full go the entire play. He made an assist on a tackle for loss where he almost got to the ball carrier from the back side before the people in front did but Lewis ended up getting him first.
