Im leaning more and more into Oklahoma being a win. I really think Bowling Green was the perfect game to help correct us correct our deficiencies before playing a top team.

What are your thoughts on the secondary debacle against BG?

I'm not necessarily trying to be overly confident about our chances. Oklahoma will give us some trouble. But we'll give them plenty of trouble as well.

Our offense looks like a machine. Theirs looks more like ours did last year. They can hurt us with their athletes.. But they don't run the ball particularly well, or have a razor sharp accurate QB. That QB looks like a gamer though. So it wouldn't shock me if he plays great. It also wouldn't shock me if he implodes and throws 3 or 4 interceptions.

Please, please throw it Cams way.

I am interested to see what our offense is capable of against a defense this good. I just think Jalen Hurd is honestly one of the most valuable weapons in the country. He runs angry, but he's also huge and fast. We can wear them down with him. How are you gonna deal with him? You better be locked in and focused every single play or he will run you over and take it to the house.

And Kamara just compliments him so well. Hurd wears them down, and then Kamara comes in fresh and just flies. So shifty and quick. This might be the best looking RB duo ive seen here. I'm in my late 20's, so take that how you will.

And then we have Dobbs that can kill you too if you get too focused on the RB's. And our basketball team of WR's can punish you if you focus too much on the run in general. The play action could potentially be deadly this year. Just devastating.

Our offensive line all of a sudden has me feeling good. We worried about it all summer, and we finally have some proof of improvement. That's such a good sign.

I really am starting to believe we'll have one of the better offenses in the country. This game will tell the tale though. Ready to get it going.

I hope he plays -- why redshirt him and see him leave for the NFL, after the RS soph season ? Or worse, maybe he gets pissed off and transfers to Ole Miss after this season. Put him in along with KM and Kirkland.

So, you've got him going in the draft early before taking a snap?

#volnation

A redshirt ALWAYS benefits a player, especially an OL

I know they get compensated well, but I have respect for coaches who play in the SEC. Our schedules are brutal, players get beat up. It doesn't matter if your best players are hurt, they give you about three years in this league, then if there is no improvement the natives get restless.

Meyer and Franklin took the easy way out. They saw that it was going to get a whole lot tougher, and they got out before it affected their records (and future paychecks). Yes Urban won the National championship, but it's a lot easier to do that when you play puss schedule so that half your team hasn't suffered sprains, broken bones and concussions due to play with future Sunday players.

With that said... Neyland needs to be rocking Saturday regardless of what is happening. We all know that you can come back from large deficits in a short amount of time with Dobbs and company (See last year's SC game) Never give up--keep Neyland loud as it has ever been!!

I'm ready to run through a brick wall after reading VFL34's post!!! I think he is spot on, too. A big win Saturday will be the turning point for the program. It will be the game we look back on and say TN football officially became relevant on a national scale, when we beat Oklahoma on 9-12-2015. It will be the confidence booster for the players, as they will realize that even though they are young, they can play with and beat anyone. I was there 2 years ago in the nosebleeds when we lost the heart breaker to UGA. I felt the electricity from the fans...a win and there was no way any security would hold the fans back. I think the same will happen Saturday night. It will be as electric or even more...man, I just hope this time the outcome is different! GO VOLS!

What exactly does he have to be "vengeful" about? He didn't make the grades

Well yes he did. If he didn't he wouldn't be eligible at Oklahoma

I would guess he thinks we used his grades as an excuse to make room for another recruit. A mistake no doubt at this point by the staff but you can win them all for sure.

That's a fair point and something I've wondered about. It was reported by media that he didn't have the grades, but got into OU with minimal clearinghouse issues. There was a glaring need for us and OL needed in that class. That entire situation was a unique one for sure. It's definitely possible we passed on him, but I'm not sure why in the world we would have. Mike Sawyers? Who knows.

Yea how far away he was at the time academically is unknown. It might have been a huge risk who knows but Not taking sawyers in hindsights would have been nice

I don't believe Oklahoma is a better offensive unit than BGSU. I know they have talent in some spots that BGSU doesn't have but the Oline isn't nearly as experienced as a unit and they have implemented a new offensive system. I just do not see that going smoothly in Neyland. Oklahoma does have a much better defense though which will give our offense it's first real test.

I expect a much better defensive effort versus a more inexperienced Oline and I think we get some points on that defense as well. I think we take them in Neyland.

Richmond is not a three and done OT.

He is similar to Tiny, and much like Tiny could certainly use a year of development.

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the issue had to do with the SEC math requirements (which are different from those of some other conferences like the big 12).

I doubt the situations was one of Bruin's conspiracy theories.

The math requirement is always a juco thing irrc

Think of it this way, if Oklahoma had played Bowling Green in Week 1 and we would have played Akron, what would the scores have been? I'd say Oklahoma 48 Bowling Green 30, Tennessee 70 Akron 13.

It's going to be a dog fight on Saturday, but I believe that our offense will win the day and we put it away late with some comfort. Vols 48 Oklahoma 27 (but it will feel much closer until the last stanza).
