Regardless if I agree with you or not, you come across as very condecending. You seem to think you are better than everyone else.

Yes, I know those posts came across as condescending, and, quite frankly, maybe they were. I should have just went ahead and copy and pasted.

Know this, however. Anything I say on here that sounds insulting/condescending, it is directed at the following posters:

1. Equally condescending posters who make their condescending nature evident beforehand. In other words, I'm not that different from them, so who cares.
2. Posters that think that, since they've experienced some relative success in life, they're experts in everything and want you to know what experts they are in everything and that because of this their opinion is better than yours.
3. Posters who insult others and myself with unwarranted personal attacks concerning what they may think is others' or my own personal lives or who insult others concerning their opinions or perceived intelligence (without first being insulted, I should add). In other words, people who resort to ad hominems immediately and often.
4. Posters who still live in the 12th Century and haven't realized yet that Socrates is a thing.
5. Hypocritical posters (e.g., ones who make it obnoxiously clear how much they hate paying public education salaries yet pull a guberment paycheck every month for some service they once did for the government (most likely military). The utter stupidity of such thinking still makes my head spin.
6. And last, but not least, posters who probably qualify for any (if not all) of the above, try to constantly convince you what important **** they're doing, yet all they ever seem to do is post on here all ******n day.
What the hell do they ever do other than post on here?

Anyhow, if you've treated me or others with respect on here (and aren't advocating for some sort of ISIS-equivalent world), then I treat you with respect. I have wonderful relationships with quite a few posters on here. I call these people "decent, normal humans." And they are.

Unfortunately, the strong personalities take over.

I also happen to be a strong personality, so I don't let the **** fly without some backlash.

In the process, I look like the ass. As a matter of fact, I end up looking like the wolf.

But I'm really not. I'm a sheepdog. Always have been.

As for certain others on here, I can't speak for them.

I'll guarandamntee you one thing though, you'll never see an apology or a post like this from any one of them.

I've never seen it, nor do I ever expect to.

And I don't expect this post to be received well, but, then again, I'm not a wolf.

Ditto.....I think.

Anyhow, what I should have said originally and which expresses my original thoughts as well:

Yes, this is a very dumb idea.

We need to look after LGBT kids, because they have it rough, and I guarantee you much rougher than you just being annoyed by having to hear about it.

But this is a dumb initiative.

Difference is good, and I will defend it, but it does not mean one has to constantly be accommodated by everyone else.

Which is what I think this is doing: asking us to go out of our way to accommodate everyone else.

I had something like that happen to me twenty years ago at UT ......it was a feminist English teacher that didn't like the use of male pronouns.....needless to say I had to write an apology letter to my professor so I wouldn't fail.

:bad: Man, that sucks having to do a letter of apology. Should have told her to kiss your :shaking2:

In hind sight would have been nice to CC the head of the department and the president.

On UT's official website...

Inclusive Practice: Pronoun Usage | Office for Diversity and Inclusion

The fact this tripe exists on the official site of the University of Tennessee is a tacit endorsement of the policy by Goldfinger and his merry band of Pronoun Policemen.

Perhaps we should give them a uniform to wear:

When do we start throwing out students and professors who dare refuse to bow to the dogma of diversity?

Let's introduce the forum to the individual who is pushing this stupidity:

This is what our university has been turned into by a leadership more concerned with controlling language than preparing students for life in a world where none of this Orwellian trash will ever be of any real value to them.

It is embarrassing to see my alma mater dragged through this insanity by people who care more for their agenda than they do for the University of Tennessee.

That definitely needs to be classified as a Xe because I sure as hell don't know what it is.

If one shows up to college and hasn't found an existing pronoun in the English language that they can identify with, I think it's safe to say they aren't ready for college.

And with the constant talk of budget woes coming out of Knoxville, it is a head scratcher that an office like this is in the budget.
Amen

So now lgbt is lgbtqia. That's an awfully inclusive abbreviation for about 10% of the population. This gets more disgusting the more I and I read about it. Please refer to me as god from now on, not the head guy God, just a minor deity. Phrases such as "your highness" are acceptable also.

I jest but, were I to be asked to provide name and pronoun, I would have to come up with something stupid.
