I have no problem with welfare to get someone on their feet but creating the culture of dependence on welfare is annoying. Help people help themselves. I know that will not work in all cases with people with serious handicaps, etc but stop people from working the system.

I agree, but we were saying the same things back in the 70's into the 80's when increasing entitlements were being recognized by the Dems as the way to buy votes. Back then Teddy Kennedy was leading the charge along with House Speakers Carl, Tip and James. Entitlement programs now take 66% of the pie. Contrary to the comments on here, the military took 17% last year - per Heritage.org. Argue small percentages, but the busting the budget deal is all about entitlements.

It works in TN, it will work nationwide. As Huckabee says, even the illegals, prostitutes, pimps and drug dealers have to buy stuff. But the powers that be always work against the logical and best ways of doing things. They want everything convoluted to make it harder to track their corruption.

Researched it in college and the amount of money the IRS actually collects is very little when you deduct the cost of running the department. The figure was astronomical the amount the Government would save by eliminating it.

Hell tourist would pay taxes.

Don't feel like paying taxes....

Don't buy anything.

Harder to skim though when everyone can see where the money is going and how much is going in.

They want things as convoluted as possible.

The parrot head "Bush did it" posts on here are amusing. Straight down party line. Bush is responsible for Iraq and not correcting the mess that was made previous to him of the debt markets. That's it. The rest is on the Dems and Americans in general for not paying attention. Stop listening to politicians. Start learning and thinking for yourself.

Start learning and thinking for yourself.

When I did that I quit voting for either party altogether. It's my opinion that the two work in concert to share power. The fighting against each other crap is a spectacle to draw our attention away from the fact that both parties are robbing us each with two hands in our pockets.

Bush had a small role in it. He did try to tighten Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac but failed to push it through congress. His staff blocked measures to regulate hedge funds. Most of the blame should fall on Clinton but several people have a role in the collapse.

FWIW, Volquest is running two new promotions. You can buy a monthly sub at $9.95, but your next renewal date won't be until Halloween. It's less than $0.25 a day.

Or you could get an annual sub for $99.95. That will be good until New Years Day 2017. Over 16 months. Still less than $0.25 a day.

Promotion ends tonight.

I don't like talking politics, but man you nailed it. All these slimy suckers argue about is HOW they will spend your money. Lesser of two evils is evil. I won't vote in national or even most state races again until they give us a None of the Above category. When that category gets more votes than candidates, give us two new candidates and let's do it again.

And for those who may say you can't complain if you don't vote, over 50% (actually more) of my income is swindled in taxes, I do have a right to complain. Arguing and participating in a futile system solves absolutely nothing.

Gosh, "swindled" is such a harsh and ugly word. Wouldn't it be better put if you used "misappropriated", "pissed away", "cheated", "stole", "extorted" or something like that?

Or "swindled"...I guess that does work after all.

Pretty much exactly where I'm at. Politicians on both sides are bought and sold by the same corporations. IMO the huge schism between the two parties is manufactured to keep people distracted, and the large majority of people who yell about how much better their party is than the other are falling for it hook line and sinker.

This is for Crookrus and Nashvol93 from the Kyle Davis thread ( your welcome mods) and any other fan out there:

What do you guys think of the new Jason Isbell album? Not gonna lie, didn't love it first time through, but realized it was a me issue because I was trying to compare it to absolute masterpiece in Southeastern. Once I took those blinders off, I've really come to love the album, and I even think it's close now to Southeastern though in a whole different way. I'd rate 8 of the songs as excellent with How to Forget currently my favorite. Any Isbell fan knows though that a favorite song is likely to change on a weekly basis, lol!

I totally agree how your favorite son changes from week to week. I enjoy the new record it grows on me everytime I listen to it. Something more than free and speed trap town have to be my favorites.

I still like the old rockers with the truckers, Decoration day, John Henry, danko/ Manuel, outfit, and never gonna change. And he had some good work before southeastern but sobering up really helped him focus on southeastern.

Funny, Speed Trap Town is one of my least favorites now, but that could change soon, lol.

With Southeastern, BTW great album regardless of what genre, I would get fixated on songs and start digging in constantly. Songs in the Shower was one that I wasn't a huge fan of at first, then later became a favorite. So weird.

Speed trap town just reminds me so much of my home town. That's the way it was always described to me as kid as a speed trap town.

That's what makes the songs so cool, you can really relate personally. It's why How to Forget is my current favorite, REALLY relating right now, yikes!!
