The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

he did break his tibia/ankle or something the last week of spring and had surgery the week of their spring game. Not sure where hes at right now though health wise.
I'm pretty sure I read an article not too long ago that stated he would miss a significant amount of time this upcoming season. I could be wrong though. I wish someone could verify if he will miss time or not. I don't personally have the time to check on it.

Nothing definive on the web, but I found the below for you.

1) This is from the write up of their Spring game:
"...absence of tight end Steven Scheu and offensive lineman Jake Bernstein, who both sat out with leg injuries but will return by late summer, per Mason."

2) Posters on their fan site expect him to be back for the season.

Now is the time guys! Join the Vandy "nation"! I mean don't you want to be a part of that tens of fans in the empty stadium in the picture?

You would have saved time if you had just used the Google machine instead of writing this post

yeh scheu def had surgery late march but their spring practice was so long ago. He may be ready to go but you never know with those types of injuries. Josh Smith, Big Charles are pretty good examples. He may be just fine. They would be in serious trouble if hes not ready week 1.

interested to see their practice videos. Lets see what that passing game is looking like haha

if its anything like the spring all the passes will end up on the turf.

While entertaining, I'm not sure I'd judge anyone by that measuring stick unless they are completely horrid (which very well could be the case)

Our practice videos from last fall weren't exactly stellar.

wasnt being completely serious man. And yes, they are horrid. I cant imagine a team that couldnt complete a pass a few months ago in the spring can do any better now.

Especially when Patton Robinette got all the #1 reps during the entire spring before abruptly retiring from football, lol.

Do you know when it starts? I imagine some over there will hype vandy up to being a 6-7 win team which will be funny to read

i think they start tmr and report today. Yeh they have a few over there trying to sell the others on 7 wins lol. For most of them the apathy has set back in. Always interesting to hear them try to convince themselves they will be good.

exactly. That hurts alot. Ol Freebeck and McCrary are terrible. I just remember McCrary lookin awfully scared last yr against all the conference opponents. UK just put about 8-9 in the box every snap and just destroyed Freebeck. Yes, i said UK lol

Diamonds in the rough! All of them!

Never forget each and every quarterback that goes to Vandy will end up being a Jay Cutler.

Although, funny thing about Jay...

I recall after the Old D game last years how the sportscasters were calling McCrary the next Cutler.

Only to be shut up when he got spanked the next game.

Who wants to be the next cutler? That sounds like a diss more than any kind of praise

took mason 40 seconds today to mention the fact that the prognosticators think they will blow again this yr lol. Dude never stops talking.

They have a press conference today?

yeh. just heard about it on the radio. watched it for a second when i got home. Already turned it off lol. Brutal listening to that guy speak. as soon as he started talking about twitter trolls, haters, etc i just turned it off.

Does he not realize that his own "star" defensive player is a Twitter troll?

it would be awesome for them to wear those white helmets against us this year. It would be great to see all their players get their heads shoved into the orange paint so that at the end of the game they all are forced to wear orange helmets and carry them into their locker room after getting spanked.

The nice thing about Mason is that he doesn't really cost them much. If they pay a lot for a good coach and suck they get the SEC money, if they keep Mason they suck and they get the SEC money. It sounds like a no brainer to me, keep Mason.

It would probably cost them a few million to get rid of him before his contract is up so we get a couple more years of entertainment.
