I've been very impressed with the quality of SECN studio guys generally. I remember wondering during the season why ESPN had people like Mark May and Lou Holtz (who are horrible) with prime gigs when they have better analysts at the SECN.

One side effect of all these conference networks might be better studio analysts quality generally. Some of the young guys can practice for a few years at the conference networks before moving over to ESPN.

I know...but I've developed an adverse reaction to excuse making or anything resembling it.

Butch stating as much might just be a reasonable facsimile but it's enough to ruffle my feathers a little...

Marcus Spears just stated that as Butch was speaking at the podium, he looked at Greg McElroy and they both stated "We would play for this guy in a heartbeat."

Tingly, I feel it.

It feels good to hear so much of the media picking the VOLS to win the EAST or at least compete.. It's been a long time.

July is the hardest month for me to get through. All Summer, I've been pulling 30 hours at an internship and then 30 hours at work. Pretty much, I've had no Summer lol. The internship just ended, so I've had some extra time on my hands. I've been going back and watching every snap of every game last year. I just finished the UF game.

Defensively, I've been trying to key in on Cam Sutton and recognize all that he does for our defense. Can't overstate how valuable he is and will be moving forward. I've been logging his big plays, in case someone wants to do a highlight vid for him.

As I'm watching Cam, 2 guys really caught my eye. One is JRM. Such a savvy ball player for a guy who transitioned to LB and started as just a sophomore. He really understands run fits and when to cut a gap. His UGA, OK, and UF tapes were really good.

The other is Derek Barnett. For a guy who got here in May, he really matured fast, especially physically. He held up all year and was extremely nasty. I'm watching the Sooners game, and OU has the ball and they run it opposite of Barnett (at different points in the game), and I'll be damned if he didn't sprint over there, body slam the backside Guard and get in on the tackle. His UGA film was good too. He gave Gurley some big shots. He plays with such a bad disposition.

Few other things I noticed, Owen Williams needs more game reps. Seemed like every time Owen got in the game, he's making something happen. He's strong as hell and he's got a good motor. I know people praised LaDarrell McNeill last year for his improvement, but he hurt us last year in the back end.

Todd Kelly really emerged and I liked his play through the first 5 games. In my opinion, he should be the other starting Safety, but it won't happen. Kelly was a sure tackler last year. He hits damn hard too.

I'd like to see Weatherd used more. I understand the staff was trying to break him in since he arrived late. He's not a one trick pony. He made some nice plays in the run game last year.

I don't know how to upload games to YouTube. If Freak would cut up the defensive snaps of all the games not on YouTube I will make a great Sutton highlight video. The videos on YouTube are a disservice.

Whoever works on the Thorpe Trophy Watch List group probably did us Vols fans the best favor possible.

Angry Cam will be All American/Team Leader/Ball Hawk/Skull Crusher Cam.

If JRM builds off what he did last year, I have no doubt he could be 1st Team SEC. Our defense is gonna be something serious next year. Last year, my thoughts on the defense, were to just keep us in the game. We were out matched on the DL. Jordan Williams at 275 lbs playing DT in the SEC. No depth there.

This year is a much different story. We have defensive playmakers all over the field. Just look at what we could possibly field on kickoff coverage.... Medley, McDowell, Gaulden, Evan Berry, Bates, Martin, Foreman, Weatherd, Griffin, Elliot Berry, Sapp, Swafford... Could throw in DK Jr or Gavin Bryant as well. That's an elite unit

Special teams will be even better this year provided we have a good punter, and we were already top 10 in efficiency in 2014.

We were also one of the least penalized teams in the nation last season. Both of those stats are indicators of great coaching.
