Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

Merchandise isn't being shipped to stores until the 1st. Most won't have it until the 3rd. The VolShop at Neyland will be stocked by Nike themselves the morning of the 1st. Alumni Hall will have merchandise on the 2nd. Other retailers will receive it after that.

A friend of mine worked for Alumni Hall until a couple months ago when they picked someone else for the stock manager position and she said they were told they'd have the Nike stuff "a few days" before the 1st, because it would have been her job to get everything inventoried before then.

Here are a couple of examples of away uniforms that would look great as well.

Shoes fit everyone's feet differently. I run a lot and all of my running group swears by Asics but I can't stand them. It has nothing to do with the quality. I've had every brand there is and there are good ones and bad ones of each. To say one brand is the least comfortable and wears out the fastest is ridiculous. Nike makes great shoes as does most other top brands. You just have to find the proper fit for your type of foot and activity.

Brooks and Mizuno are my fav running shoes. Most comfortable shoes I've worn. Nike and Adidas are more fashion statement oriented IMHO

Love my Mizunos. That's all I run in but I have Nike, Under Armour, Merrell, and Adidas shoes to kick around in and they are all comfortable and have never fallen apart.

As it was explained to me, the Alumni Hall warehouse will receive their first shipment directly from Nike on the 1st so they can inventory and tag it there, then will be allowed to place it in their stores for the open of business Tuesday.

That's the deal they made with Nike to get a one-day exclusive for the apparel. Other local retailers are less than pleased.

That's strange, I'll text her to get the inside sitch. But it sounded like basically the person in her (almost) position and like...the GM of each store would see the stuff a couple days earlier to inventory, but nobody else.

I hate beating a dead horse, but... I'll be traveling thru Knoxville from Florida, hoping I could buy some things at Neyland, midnight Tuesday. Is that no longer planned to open midnight Tuesday? If that's not the plan I would appreciate any info so I can keep driving. Thanks so much.

12:30 PM on the first is when merchandise becomes available to my understanding.

No, the midnight opening was never official.

The store will open at 12:30 after the full line of gear is unveiled on UT's live show at Noon.

I know the plan has changed several times in the last few weeks, but this is the "final" version as of Monday, per a contact at Nike.

gotcha. Like I said, she quit right before May, so if things have shifted, that would definitely make my info outdated lol

I know this will cause some debates and a lot of arguing:devilsmoke:, but my wife says Nike running shoes are awful. She runs marathons and has used all the big name brands. Nike running shoes are the least comfortable and wear out the fastest. She really likes the Newton running shoes. I know most people won't buy the shoes to run marathons, but it does show (on a small scale) how Nike makes its money through marketing instead of quality. I like my Nike shoes, but they don't even come close comfort wise to my New Balance, Reebok, and Asics that I own. He!! My Addidas are a lot more comfortable. Are you guys and gals going to spend a few $$$ on these shoes? Remember it's usually a long walk from wherever you park to Neyland Stadium, you don't want to wear shoes that are not comfy:). Just kidding, root on the Vols however you want to, wear and buy whatever shoes you want to when you go to Neyland:thumbsup:

Nike doesn't make good running shoes really. They do have a few decent ones like the Pegasus and the Frees for lightweight running. They make good training shoes though. Asics and Brooks are usually the best as far as quality of running shoe. Mizuno and Saucony also have some really good ones out there.

Question for you, DP. What was with that JC Penney in Mufreesboro that put out UT shirts with the new Nike wordmark on it a week ago? How did they get it so early if the apparel is being released so much later?
