This whole argument has been directed at someone who thinks it is part of our history and should on par with the country's flag. It's not about whether or not it's on a government building (even though there are a few southern civic building's that feature it), it's about the fact that some find the flag and its message to be okay.

It's not about attacking white culture (which Ob insinuated earlier). It's about doing away with ignorance, especially a beacon for like minded agents of ignorance to flock to.

Banning the display of the confederate flag will absolutely stop racism in this country! With that flag gone everything else just falls into place! Crime drops to nothing, property values sky rocket, IQ's bloom, and the air just smells cleaner!

The only government property that the rebel flag should be on is when it pertains to the civil war. You see the flag at various battlefields around the country. You also see the flag as part of monuments from Florida all the way up to Gettysburg.

While the display of this flag obviously is sore spot for some people the fact remains that where it stands is part of a battle from the civil war.

Visiting the building there is kind of cool because you can still see where Union cannonballs impacted the structure.

Remove it or not I don't care, I'm a Yankee.

Not necessarily a bleeding heart. I'm not a fan of affirmative action or the mentality behind it, but there is a cultural problem in America revolving around how different races are treated by day-to-day entities, government and private.

I can think of several crucial instances in my life where being white got me to where I am today. As far as instances where it's held me back... well, can't really find anything.

It's people who revel in it or discount the struggles of minorities, or people who shamelessly exhibit xenophobia that bother me. We're in an age where acknowledging white privilege is considered super liberal, feminine, and false.

It's not. It just makes you uncomfortable because you want to freeze your status.

My thing with "white privilege" is that it doesn't explain Asians. How can white privilege really be that much of a thing when we have non whites doing better than whites?

The real issue is multiculturalism. That is poison in a civil society and as long as multiculturalism is promoted racism is here to stay.

Look dink, there is plenty of things I'm not proud of that our country has done over time. But pitching a fit over a flag that doesn't effect ones life is stupid.

You know, kinda of like how the gay marriage has no effect on straight folks lives
