Where Do We Go Now?

I'm not sure, but why does it matter? If a kid is taking classes towards his education, whether he is transferring or not it shouldn't be our concern. I hope that didn't sound too douchey man I'm not trying to be.

Yes that's true enough and I hope he does well. I was just thinking or wondering if there are 2nd thoughts about transferring out and possibly staying on the team considering he is still in school.

Have not seen anyone who has looked at the picture of our former player in last year's Basketball Time in Tennessee come back and say he weighs less than the 205 he is listed at. If they did, they would be laughed out of the forum by those who have. That mag came out in Sept. Here, 8 months later, he is listed at 215. Not a stretch at all.

I looked, and no, I don't think he weighs 205lbs.

Who's laughung me off the forum?

So Izundu officially picks Miami. BTO has mentioned possibly getting back in it for White, but that's not a given. I guess my thought would be to see what possibly comes open as the Spring and Summer wear on. I'd do that and keep on recruiting the 2016 and beyond players to establish relationships too. We never know when an opportunity like a Stokes (which worked out) or a Woodson (which didn't work out) may open up.

BTW for anyone who might know(Auntie Dee). Why is Carmichael taking Summer mini-term classes at UT if he is transferring out? It doesn't make sense to me for UT to pay for Summer tuition for him if he is no longer on the team or no longer going to be on the team! Just curious.

I'm not sure why but my theory is academics. Lord I know I'm about to get some flack and be incriminated. But maybe he is the one in academic trouble. He may need this mini session to get his GPA up in order to move on. This maybe CB's way to help WC land on his feet at another school. He said he would assist him in any way. Whatever the case, I hope all is well I wish nothing but the best for Willie and hopes he will get in school somewhere. Personally, I'm gonna miss him.:cray:

Now it's after finals and all grades are in. We haven't heard a word about another player leaving. Anyone has any thoughts on this?

I am wondering the same thing Auntie Dee. I am waiting to hear if someone else is leaving but so far no news on that. Hopefully everyone is planning on coming back except obviously Owens and Carmichael.

WC was good for at least 4 fouls and standing out of bounds or stepping out of bounds under the basket at least once a game.

Lets hope all is well with the remaining players. I believe last year's players will flourish under CB. I'm actually looking forward to next season. I'm also hoping for a breakout season from Punter, Hubbs and Mostello. Baulkman will still be limited with his shoulder injury but he will contribute. Now my boy has to step up as well, but we need to get him back to 100%. He's not there yet.
But hey :clapping: Go Vols! Lets do this!

I don't understand why someone would forego surgery if they are going to continue playing injured.

Yes getting Jabari back to 100% is critical for this team. How is he doing with his rehab Auntie Dee and will he play in the Rocky Top League next month?

Absolutely.

There's a big guy, Georgios Papagiannis (so?), that's currently in Greece, doesn't plan to come back to the states til June. It's possible that if he comes over in June or July many schools will not have room for him, could be a situation where keeping an open spot is definitely a good idea. He's a 7'1" center who's a top 100 prospect and has pro potential, has been playing up in the Greece pro leagues and more than held his own.

He's doing good. The pin is pressing into the soft tissue in his foot a little bit. The doctor says that's to be expected until it completely heals. He's wearing his boot though, but not as much as I want him to.

He'll be home for maybe another week. Then he'll be back on Rocky Top for some strength and conditioning and summer school. He's been putting shoots daily and working on a much needed mid-range jumper.

As for the Rocky Top...I'm not too sure about that. I'd rather he not risk hurting his foot just for that.

Yea I doubt he plays in the RTL, hopefully this isn't a lingering issue

Sounds good. No he doesn't need to play in RTL if his foot isn't fully healed so I am sure they will hold him out of that. And BTO Papa Georgio would be a good get this late in the game if they could pull it off!!

The main thing currently holding back the 6-foot-10 forward's offensive development is his size. When Owens arrived at the university in June, he weighed around 175 pounds, but has since gained about "16 to 17 pounds" to push his weight to 184.

Ideally, Owens said he would like to be 230 pounds, but by the end of this season, he'd prefer to be somewhere between 190 and 195.
this quote posted by calban shows fuzzy math in effect in all this. Lets break it down.

reported AROUND 175
gained 16-17 pounds that should put him AROUND 191-192
it pushed his weight to 184 so there is a mysterious 7-8 pounds somewhere.

these mysterious AROUND pounds are what we are arguing about it seems.

All I'm saying is for anyone to have the guts to look at the Basketball Time in Tennessee half page photo of Tariq Owens that appeared in October of 2014 and say he does not weigh 205 pounds. Pretty simple.
how does looking at a picture tell you how much a person weighs? you could have 2 people standing next to each other same height and totally weights but they look aroudn the same size because of different bodyfat/compositions. You also are assuming that the other guys listed weight is legit which is ridiculous.. if they lie about one guys weight then logic leads to...

Looking at a picture tells nothing unless you have something in the picture to validate. A known good you might say. Or him standing on a scale we knew was just properly calibrated.

Owens is better than anything out there right now, that I can see. He'll obviously keep gaining weight and by the end of the year he had passed Carmichael and was starting to look more comfortable and had some very nice blocks. The fact is that he needs a redshirt year and Barnes is looking for immediate help. Not sure Alexander is really a payoff in this area as he could also benefit from redshirt. Owens at least has bodied up in the SEC. Mistake in my opinion. They should have worked to keep Owens. Unless of course Barnes hired Oliver thinking it would be a sure thing to land Izundu (Sp?).

It would have been nice to keep Owens as I thought he had the most upside of the posts. I doubt Barnes thought he would get the three post players. For whatever reason, it appears Owens staying was not on the table. Was that his preference
