So if I use the same generalizations you do, I'd say the teaching profession attracts pedophiles and child rapists.

And can you find the stats on how many cops actually fire their weapons in the line of duty?

There's a lot less cops than teachers. So I imagine you wouldn't win this battle if you really wanted to go off a percentage.

But instead of making this into a pissing contest like you are trying to do. Why can't you simply admit the need for better screening prior to handing someone a gun?

By public percentages, you are probably correct. But how many of those teachers don't get caught having sex with their students? How many of them go unreported? As you even said "I wouldn't tell a soul."

Kinda hard to hide the fact a cop shot someone. But it's way easier to hide the fact you slept with a 14 year old. But you go on defending your honorable profession.

Can you tell me what psychological testing comes with joining a police department?

How many instances of cop brutality go unreported because the victim no longer has a pulse? Once again, this is just a pissing contest and leads nowhere.

And Idk why your throwing this question at me...this is the original question I posted, and then you got your panties in a wad.

"The problem is the type of people the career attracts.

Are any psychological evaluations done prior to hiring police officers?"

My panties aren't in a wad. Actually, it's mildly entertaining to watch you fall flat on your face in yet another thread where you make claims you can't back up.

Your ignorance is so astounding it's comical. And I mean that sincerely.

I asked you what kinds of people it attracted. You said trigger happy people. I asked for your basis of that comment. You can't answer. Hence, you lose (yet again) another argument where you talk out your ass with nothing substantial to back up your claims.

So what kind of psychological testing is done prior to anyone entering the LEO profession and how many cops actually fire their in the line of duty?

Do they have psychological testing for teachers to see if they can identify the ones that will sleep with a 14 year old in advance? It would seem that's more of a threat than getting shot by a cop. I mean, it's not like one of my neighbors had three different high school girls over to his house for something other than studies before it was found out.

You do realize that I originally asked the question about psychological testing for police officers, right? So idk why you continue to ask me that question.

And you want me to back up where I perceive that many, many officers are "trigger happy" "loose cannons" who should have never been given a gun? You act as if you've never meet one of these people.

But I grew around cops. My brother in law, step brother, my nephew, and godfather were all cops.

You do realize that I originally asked the question about psychological testing for police officers, right? So idk why you continue to ask me that question.

Because you tend to generalize over the point. "LE attracts trigger happy people."

So I ask for your basis for that comment. Which you can't provide. And is not unusual in your case. Anyway...

Were/Are your family members trigger happy and was that the reason they joined? Did they just want to shoot someone? Get that kill tattoo? Bust a cap?

Oh, I don't deny they exist. However, I'm pretty certain they aren't as prevalent as you let on. So please give exact numbers on "many officers" if you would. Many could be three local cops or 50.1% of the nationwide badge wearing force to include local, state and federal authorities.

So then we get back to my question:

What is being done to prevent them from joining? Are their psychological evals? If so to what extent?

Don't screw with a cop who is doubled parked!!!!! He is doing very important work.. What a joke

They say that it's being investigated so I will patiently await the results of the investigation and the disciplinary action against that officer.

With all that in mind I would just like to point out a few simple facts. If I did the exact same thing at my job, I would be fired immediately. The "investigation" would consist of my manager watching the video. The decision to fire me would've already been made about 10 seconds in. I would be asked to clear out my locker and security would escort me to my car and then off of the hospital property.

Now maybe they will discipline this officer appropriately. I'll wait and see before making any judgment. Needless to say… I'm not holding my breath.

You have your research above.

Now your turn to answer my question. What kind of psychological testing is done for teachers to determine whether or not they attempt to have sex with my daughter?

The question is relevant to the topic at hand...

Also… I am fairly ignorant as to what the psychological screening's consist of. With that said, I'm fairly good friends with a guy who couldn't get on with the Chattanooga Police Department because he failed the psychological screening several times.

Now I don't know what criteria he either did or didn't meet. For all I know they were able to catch something that I am unable to see. Either way… He is an extremely good guy and I really feel like he would've been an excellent police officer.

I'm not sure why the scene from Happy Gilmore popped into my head

Lol... That's funny that you bring that up. There is an unusual amount of males that work on our unit. Almost all of us have beards. This last week we had to get fitted for N95 respirators and you can't be fitted with a full beard. One of the guys trimmedhis beard down into a handlebar mustache. We've all been walking around the unit quoting that scene for the last week and a half.

I'd say every town has one or two on their force.

Here's two interesting cop stories:

While in the Air Force I worked with a guy who had "ptsd". He was security forces. I put that in quotation marks because he told me he felt like he had ptsd when him and I had both just moved in on base and neither of us had ever deployed. He went out to the bar one night and had too many wild turkey shots. He got kicked out of the bar for trying to get on stage and play the drums. Then he called into the LE desk to tell them he had broke red and that he was going to steal a plane. They found him later passed on in the bushes across the street from the bar.
He eventually did deploy, and was discharged for psychological reasons shortly after. We gave this pyscho a gun and sent him to war.

About a month ago we were hanging or with another couple. The girl was a friend of my wife's and she had a new bf. He was a cop. As the night progressed he went on to tell us how all of his family, him included were on antipychotics and how his aunt had slit his uncles throat in front of him when he was a child. He also told us that he had been asked many times to tone it down a bit at work and how he sometimes can be a bit overbearing and a bit too rough.....this idiot worked in the courthouse. He had never even been on an actual patrol.

It's like any other kind of filter, you'll loose a few good people. But overall its for the best because of the ones you keep out.

Funny. And you would think one of the largest career fields in the USAF might get a dingbat or two...sometimes more.

Here's a funny story. I remember working with a bunch of augmentees, one of which was a Command Post Controller. We got a shots fired call and responded to the flightline where of course, nobody saw anything. Come to find out, one person happened to be one round short. Seems the gnats were bothering said augmentee and he lost control and decided the muzzle blast might clear them away.

Why do I need to backup my claim? You've already said you don't doubt they are there.

He has a gun and works with the public everyday. How are they safe?

And yes, I'd be for psychological testing of anyone we hand a gun too in the military. Not just sf.

How so? Is this thread about teachers?

No, this thread turned into generalizations about a specific career field and your pathetic attempts to characterize "many" LEO members as trigger happy.

And you failed to produce anything supporting your claim.

So in characterizations and generalizations and all sorts of -ations, I ask you what psychological screening is done for teachers. I've already given you plenty to stuff to look over concerning the psychological screening of LEOs.

Your turn sport. What's to keep a teacher from going after an under aged kid? Or would you prefer I start a new thread to discuss your specific profession and the many faux pas it happens to create?

I never said they're all trigger happy. I said most departments have one or two. And you've even said you've worked with this people before. So your claim that I need to provide more evidence is ignorant.

And as for your comments about teachers, it's just pure deflection on your part.

Why do I need to backup my claim? You've already said you don't doubt they are there.

Yes, I said they exist. However, I stopped well short of saying "many" have that problem.

I like my numbers and figures. You know? Things I can point to and back up my claims? Proof, evidence, things of that nature. Being able to back up your theories with facts kind of comes naturally in being a cop.

He has a gun and works with the public everyday. How are they safe?

Has he shot anyone yet?

When did I say "many"?
You laugh at the suggestion of screening people before handing them a gun, and then you claim it's alright to let psychopaths be cops as long as they haven't shot anyone yet?

Are you trolling or just a complete idiot?

No, you said "many" were trigger happy. So I asked you to back up that claim. And I said I knew they existed. I've worked with a few that were overzealous. However, I stop well short of calling "many" trigger happy and asked you to provide the basis of that ambiguous number you're tossing around.

And, in your typical fashion, you can't back up your "many" claim. I'm not sure why I expected you to be different in this thread. My bad.

I've answered your question(s) about psychological testing and how many officers are trigger happy. I can counter your argument all day long by offering examples of your own profession. Just like I did with CDY a while back.

Of course, he's smarter than you are by admitting I brought some valid points to the table. And I'd be all about discussing the matter with him more since he was fairly level headed about it. You, on the other hand, just don't know when to stop when you're well behind.

Probably because I never made that claim. But if did make it...go ahead and show me where I said it?
