i my humble opinion any player that leaves a program for fear of being recruited over isn't worth keeping in the program anyway.

if that rumor is true, then good luck and don't let the door hit you in you skinny behind.

@Ben_Fred: Renard Owens, Tariq's father, said Tariq met w/ new Vols coach Rick Barnes today. Felt he might be recruited over. St. John's a possibility.

Outside Hubbs, McGhee, and maybe Mostella, everyone on our roster is getting recruited over for the 2016 season and beyond...

Owens has potential---not devastating considering all
the transfers that COULD potentially be here. I actually like Willie Carmichael better anyway.

Oh well, we didn't want/need him anyways right? He wasn't any good as it was, and would of never got much playing time here. Coach Barnes is about to bring in one 5 star C, and one 5 star PF anyways, not to mention all the stud grad transfer's we'll be getting too.

Good luck on your quest Owens. Maybe this is the best decision for him and everything works out well in the end.

I don't think he ever actually "seen" a Vols game this year if he likes WCM better. If anybody is to leave the team, I believe 99.9% of fans on here would say they hope it's Carmichael. He's just not a legit SEC player. He may turn into a decent back up/role player in the future, but that's his ceiling here.

He and his Dad obviously didn't hear what they wanted. IMO he should wait until the staff is finalized to see if some coaches are staying. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the staff heads to St. John's.

Agree. I'm not sure about Mostella though . McGhee and Hubbs will have big years next season

Owens was thin we all saw. But I honestly don't think we scratched the surface to deep with his potential. Good Luck Owens.

Nah he didn't suck, he has a lot of potential and I wish we wasn't losing him. Going off articles about his transfer, we can't deny it appears he's scared of the competition that's soon to be coming. He's evidently also afraid to speak for himself apparently, thus far it's been his daddy doing all the talking, so yeah, no backbone. It clearly says his transfer is due to believing he will be recruited over. Who wants a player that's scared of competition anyways?
