A current player tells a recruit we are loaded and don't need him....

I still think that Vereen's going to be a heck of a player for us, so stop all that "send him packing" nonsense

The guy didn't want to compete for the job once he got that info.

Why are we getting bent out of shape about a guy that probably wouldn't want to fight for a starting spot? :ermm:

I cant believe some of you are viewing this the way you are. Apparently he values his friendship with Walker. How good of a friend would he be if he lied to him and told him our freshman WR's were no good? He didnt smack talk UT and tell him not to come. His friend asked him about the players UT has at WR and Vereen told him the truth. He said that we have some a large number of very talented WR's. Bottom line.

I agree with this sentiment

100% agree. It never bothered me that Stewart left after Manning became the choice, and this doesn't bother me either. Stay, work, become the starter (or not) and you have my gratitude for being a Vol. Be scared of ligning up against our WRs and I question your mental toughness.

I bet this is how it went:

Walker: "D, how are you all at WR?"

Vereen: "Loaded"

Walker: "Then I'm not coming."

Poole is the best back in GA, ran his forty with a pretty bad ankle at combines. He is a major steal. Go look at some articles and video and get back to me. I was high on Vereen too but he is on my bad list now for sure. Poole is a power runner with excellent vision he is going to restore power running at UT if he stays healthy.

I've already read about Poole and watched his videos. Friggin' genius here ...

And remember who our HC is.

Or it went like this...

Walker: "D, how are you all at WR?"

Vereen: "Loaded"

Walker:

I kind of thought the same thing. The way a live conversation went down and how it is reported can allow for the imagination to run wild.

Just as an FYI, Rivals (I know), has Dontavius Jackson and Martin Ward as the 2 backs in GA better than Poole. I thought Poole was a good pick up back in October.

However, he is a soft verbal and he's taking visits and liking them.

Combine that with how our coaches raved about Vereen, coupled with CPF's consistent use of players with more experience, I think Vereen enters the fall ahead of Poole.

A player telling a guy not to come isnt good but if the guy doesnt want to compete for a job they why would we want him to play for us?
