Mark It Down, Take It To The Bank, Etc

What makes me scratch my head is that Cut is going to coach in the bowl game this year, however in 98 he left before the NC game. Makes no sense.

It depends on what the old boss allows, then if the new boss agrees.

Everyone has a bad game. He just picked the wrong time. I'm sure you could have done better though.

He also had "bad games" against Cal, Bama and Florida.......matter of fact dissappeared in the second half in these! Either he didn't have the natural talent, wasn't coached or more likely a combination of the two.

Or that he had a hurt pinky all year that caused them to throw short. I agree, he isn't the best QB, but we made due w/ what we had. Crompton hasn't impressed me when he was in. You could also say that his receivers weren't the best either. Cut made him better and I don't think anyone on here can disagree w/ that.

Actually I think Ainge is an above avg. QB who has a chance to make it in the NFL, and I agree CDC helped him get over 2005.

He should have gotten better....much better, he played all last year except for the LSU game (damn defense lost that one) and Arkansas plus 13 games this year taking 98% of the snaps.

Except for the Manning prodicals, who because of their dad's tutalege became stars, who has Cut developed into a great QB?

I like either Kippy or Trooper, kind of hard because I think TT is gone otherwise, but I think KB is the smart choice, if this is what it is down to. Adkins? Really?

Kippy probably isn't interested in the job.

He's been approached before about coaching in college again, and declined because he wanted to qualify for the NFL pension. I'm not sure how many years he needed to do that. This was in 05 was Cutcliffe was hired. I think it's safe to assume it was more then 2 years.

Mark this down. Cut has two/three winning seasons. vols struggle with .500 records. Cut comes back as next vol head coach.

wow.....i need to get on more often.....

right now there's no need to. Just the typical whackos coming out of the woodwork to tell us why trooper should be OC or the huge bandwagon that GA and Groves have started for the pipe dream of Chris Hatcher. And then they start fighting each other. I had't checked the board in 8 hours, but I didn't learn anything new. It's the same stuff i read last night.

Ok, 2 quick things. I think Kippy Brown will def. get a call, but unless he sees it as a chance to be a head coach somewhere later, he's not coming. As far as Watson Brown goes, I don' think he'd excatly hack it as a OC, plus when he took the job at Tech he made it clear this would probably be the place he finishes his career. Not saying he wouldn't change his mind for enough cash, but that's what he said. This is is hometown.

I'm thinking it's Brown's as well if he wants it. That isn't a bad move, IMO. It just has to go through. IMO, here are Phil's top 3 candidates:

1. Kippy Brown
2. Doug Marrone
3. Greg Adkins

Either way, we will likely need a new OC, QBc, TEc, and RBc. We may also need a new WRc and/or DBc.

Boy, you are really thinking out of the box, aren't you??

Kippy has his 15 years and has qualified for his pention. Coaching under Mike Martz should give Kippy some fresh ideas especially in the passing game.

The next OC at Tennessee will be Kippy Brown. He's a guy with alot of history on the Hill and a prior relationship with Phil. Most imprtant of all, he will not be perceived as a threat to Phil. Stone Cold Lead Pipe Lock.

It would have been a lead pipe lock. The stars looked like they were aligned for Kippy being here. The Martz firing was something you couldn't have expected. But hey, you went out on a limb, though.
