Russian news claiming Obama gave a press conference with Right Sector's flag behind him lol

Setting the stage for Poroshenko's successor? I have to admit... I find that weird.

Let's pretend the USA was where Russia is....would you want Obama or Putin?!

Putin would put troops on the Mexican border. He would go to a 15% flat tax. He would stand behind one man/one woman families. He would become a believer in gold/hard money like Andrew Jackson.

It's the German flag caught at a bad angle. Even than the color scheme for the Right Sector/Ukrainian nationalist flag is reversed.

You are right. It's from Merkel and Obama's meeting at the White House. A simple google of that shows wider angle pictures. But to the average Russian troll and a controlled populace they'd never know the difference.

Don't forget seize every corporation of anyone speaking out against him. Jailing dissenters. Outlawing any protests and free speech against him. Keeping the economy in the dark ages. Installing his old KGB cronies in key government and economic positions. Elements of a theocratic fascism. Yep. Utopia.

But to address something you did say - troops on the border. Putin is a fan of cheap foreign labor. Siberia's loaded with cheap Asian republics labor.

That's a good way of putting it, although not perfect analogies considering the US is surrounded by people that largely don't mind it. But...

If we're dealing with this particular issue...like, say, Russia was having a big influence in Canada or Mexico (Cuba, who gives a damn anymore, as long as it isn't nukes), then, yeah, I would say Putin. He has a nice tough guy rhetoric. I like it. I also like his masculine swagger, although a lot of it becomes cheesy after a certain point.

Now, if you're asking domestically, absolutely not. I'd take Obama, despite his manifold flaws, each day after Sunday after Putin. Sure, some things are nice about Putin's domestic policies, but I typically prefer not to worry about being murdered for criticizing my president. I don't really have to worry about that with Obama.

You forgot the part where this involves killing a lot of American citizens.

All you know is confrontation! You can dish it but can't take it! You're worse than volprof ever thought of being...

No offense professor! In a sick way I kinda like you! You got spunk..

Eh, I can take it. I've never put anyone on here on Ignore, nor will I ever.

Honestly, if you were to meet me in real life, I'm a pretty cool dude, or at least so they say. I just get carried away on here. A lot of that has to do with the obvious passionate political nature of this forum - in other words, stuff you typically never actually engage in full discussion with with coworkers, acquaintances, etc.

I'm the same! I'm actually pretty laid back and a likable guy. I get fired up on occasion but it's nithing personal I assure you!

Same thing. And most of my friends are about as opposite of me as you can get. I even have a few Ras' in my life. Keeps things interesting. Broadens your mind. Never a dull moment. I need someone to backhand from time to time.

Something I'm trying to understand is Rasputin's and your fondness for the man. It's clear that you agree with his politics. Okay, no problem. To each his own. And it's clear that you think him a defender of a free voice. Another thing that is clear is that you two would prefer him as a president of the United States.

Why? Help us understand. He seems really rough around the edges to an untrained Western eye, but maybe there's something I'm missing.

I'll try to answer this without speaking directly for the pro-Putin guys. There are many (myself included), that believe the west has been taken over by a banking cartel (for lack of a better word). An entire thread could be dedicated to the subject but I will paraphrase a quote that has been attributed to one of the Rothschilds ... give me control of the issuance of a nation's currency, and I care not who makes its' laws.

If you look around the world, private central banks control the money supply of almost every single country, reporting to the bank of international settlements. These banks, along with their wealthy Wall Street financier friends (think George Soros or Goldman Sachs) have proven over the last decade that they will do anything to maintain their grip on power. I don't think it's a coincidence that the list of countries that don't have a central bank are on our list of enemies.

Many people feel that Putin is standing up to this banking cartel because he paid down Russia's debt, kicked a few western bankers out of Russia, and seems to be in favor of collapsing the banking system.

I am not in this group because I don't see Putin as that altruistic. I view the conflict as - their oligarchs are struggling with our oligarchs for as much control as they can get before the debt ponzi collapses. And I don't think these oligarchs would mind starting a world war to cover up the fact that the collapse was their fault.

Starting to get too lovey dovey in here. If these were pictures of kittens we were talking about, I'd be fine with it. But we're not dealing with kittens here.

Back to hating one another.

Whichever one would outlaw your's and Ras's access to a computer.

I've entertained the possibility that one or both of them is among Russia's (mis)information warriors who get paid to troll comment sections and forums.

I don't know why anyone would target VolNation, but I don't know why a country would blow $40 billion on a Winter Olympics, either.

Good post. Thank you.

Now that you mention it, Pacer did appear out of the middle of nowhere on this forum during the heat of the moment.
