DeBord is coming (merged)

Over/under on more touchdowns on defense than offense next season ? Not cool Butch. I don't think he gets it....

No the level of mediocrity that some UT fans have come to expect as acceptable is whats pathetic.

Same chicken little fans had their panties firmly in a twist when Jones was hired. Said he couldn't win in the SEC, couldn't recruit in the SEC. Roster has improved since then, we've defeated ranked teams like Carolina and been competitive with teams with a lot more talent than us. Sorry but I'll trust the judgment of Jones over all the emotionally insecure fans in our fanbase.

If cbj is calling the shots then bajak was just another randy sanders n we will still call the same stupid stubborn plays at key points in games and sit on a 10pt lead over fla. So how is that an improvement

This is his choice but again is this the best off staff in america he has assembled?

Best staff comprised almost exclusively of people with Michigan or Cincinnati ties though.

Would you expect anything less? Talking bout the meltdown.. I'm ok with this hire not excited but ok with it.. I think he improves the Oline and he has the pieces to get it done.. Also I like a running game aspect of his coaching..

I like the experience he brings to the OL, as well as to the TEs. I don't have to have a fancy car to be happy. As long as it does what it's supposed to do, I'm all good. That's my take on the hire.

What I care about right now is the plan for QBs. I know Butch has one, I just want to know what it is. Right now, we have Dobbs(who is still developing), then we have three frosh QBs to back him up. They need a quality teacher. If Butch's decision is to let that GA be their teacher, I'll live with it. I doubt I'll like it, but I'll let it play out without going nuts. I just want to know if that is the plan.

What mediocrity has Debord brought he hasn't coached a lick yet here and yet you're here bashing the hire, how did you enjoy the recruiting that Butch and staff has done..why don't you tap your brakes and let it play out and see what happens before you start with that...

52-11 with a National Title is mediocrity to most of the geniuses on here. They would have you believe they could be a better OC in between slinging burgers at your local fast food establishment. We have the ultimate Uncle Rico fanbase.

People need to get away from the edge and breathe. I'm willing to bet that Michigan's conservative play-calling was more tied to having Lloyd Carr as a head coach.

Ultimately, this is Butch's team and the offensive philosophy will be his, not DeBord's. We're not going to transform into a power run, I-formation team. If anything, Butch wanted stability, somebody he could trust, and someone who could help strengthen the O-line. He wanted somebody to run HIS system, not for someone to implement their own.

:rock:I think we all hope his oline background will help. No major play book changes. Seems like coach has a handle on this hire. I dont have a problem with the hire. I just hope the team can bond with him.:good!:

It's been great for recruiting. These guys get it done. Now on to the final chapter. Can they coach them up from there high school level? We are going to find out this season.:rock:

I believe a few players including Dobbs already has.

Still a whole lot of self convincing going on.

Its scary really all the it'll be OK talk blah blah blah. When most of you probably would agree privately that this is likely a train wreck waiting to happen.

It couldn't hurt. But why not put DeBord in as OL Coach and hire a better OC?

Butch cares about being successful...and he's doing it.
On the recruiting trail, YES.

On the field...NO.

He's 12 & 13 in two seasons. Jury is still out, but returns thus far don't demand worship of the guy. All the more reason not to halt the momentum the recruiting has generated, with a hiring of a crony who doesn't even FIT....something Butch said was paramount for him.

Newsflash. DeBord is the WORST fit Butch could have sought. DeBoring ran a pro-style, ball-control...eat time off the clock, offense. Conversely, Butch runs a fast-paced, zone read offense...designed to run more and more offensive plays. Not less. It's designed to go go fast to wear teams down, rather than trying to keep the opponents offense off the field as long as possible. His offensive philosophy/concepts run completely counter to DeBord's.

So, with that being the case, what's all this BS about FIT? DeBord is NOT a good fit. Can he ADAPT/CHANGE?....maybe. But if that is what we are talking about, then it has NOTHING to do with....FIT.

It's more about past coaching relationships. The whole FIT routine was just a line of BS, as was this spurious coaching search. He never conducted any damn search. He called his bud up, had him in for a few days and hired him on the spot.

Notice in the NSD celebration last night...Butch caught himself saying they would try to HIRE by the end of the week. Before the word HIRE got completely out of his mouth....he paused and stated....ANNOUNCE.

He knows this whole search was a ruse. I like Butch in many regards, but I'm not going to kneel down, lick his boots and worship the guy like some of the sheep here, do.

The reality is that the athletic department is broke and DeBord is all we could afford. It is sad the financial slide the athletic department has fell in to. A decade with no bowl game revenue sure didn't help.

I really love this type of fan.. Really isn't happy with anything..train wreck haha yea Butch would do that I'm sure the chemistry is already there since they've worked together and basically gave Butch his big time but what would I know I'm just a fan, that can think reasonable

He's the safe comfort scape goat hire I hope butch can live with the results.

My luck we will end up with a high powered high octane offense that would make Oregon blush.

You'd be much happier if you found another team to complain about

Agree.. I believe Fulmer was comfortable with a coach named Cutcliffe. I'm not saying Debord is gonna be Butch's Cut but let's tap the brakes and see how it plays out..
