This is nothing short of cronyism. I appreciate the 2 stellar recruiting classes, but all the Butch worshipers tend to forget that even an unqualified (didn't even have a winning record as a HC at La Tech) person like Dooley could use the tradition, facilities, Neyland Stadium, Vol Navy, etc. to haul in top 10-20 classes.

After 2 seasons, Butch doesn't have a success record (here at UT) to sell. He's having to rely on his resume prior to coming to UT, and it's working thus far. But one bad hire, because he feels he owes a debt to his old, out of work, coach...can kill all the momentum he is building.

Clawson torpedoed Fulmer's career in one season, and Sunseri did likewise to Dooley.

So a guy who has built championship teams at 2 previous schools and is on track to do it with the Vols is going to ruin it all with cronyism? Do you really believe he is that stupid?

The idea that Butch would hire an OC at Tennessee out of cronyism or loyalty to an old friend is probably the most laughably ridiculous notion that's ever been posted here. And there's good competition.
