Official OC search update thread...

Why would we not consider Meachem or Legg, as someone above suggested? I'd be going after those two hard, but maybe we can't afford or they are happy where they are? I can't imagine that we couldn't pull a guy from Marshall or TCU? But, yea, we would have to offer more than the $450K our previous OC was getting paid--less than Canada at NC State.

No idea, I just know Brice said Legg was not a candidate. Meachem I don't see leaving TCU because he could probably stay put and have a crack at a HC job soon. They should be ranked in the top five, will put up stupid offensive numbers again. I'd probably make that call but I doubt it's realistic at all.

The football engine is going to roar along regardless of what one program's fan base chooses. UT can only choose if it wants to be a piston or a muffler.

I wasn't just referring to Tenn football fans. I was talking that , as a group, football fans determine the market. No fans, no football.

Then no way it's Debord. That hire doesn't get announced before NSD

Completely disagree, if this thing goes beyond NSD it will be because someone is currently in a position where they will need to wait for recruiting purposes. The longer this goes the less likely it will be DeBord.

All Legg does is pass the ball 60 times a game.....not a fan

He did interview Canada last night. Maybe he was happy with the interview and hired him.

This is who I want.
Why?
Just because of his last name.
Makes as much since as wanting a guy simply because he is a senior citizen so the blue hairs can think that they still got it.

Really don't think we have the money for Helton or Norvell. Rod Smith makes some sense - he's affordable - he could be co-offensive coordinator along w/ Azzanni - also make him the QB coach. Don't really see why we'd take Brewer when we have Azzanni. Canada would be a smart hire but we'd also have to bump Azzanni's pay to give him incentive to stay I'm sure. DeBord I still can't understand. It's seems neither risky nor conservative. Just seems like he is at an unusual time in his career to be coming back as a big time OC.

Really wouldn't mind if Jason Candle's name popped up in some capacity. He is a good looking up-and-comer. Good history of success, tireless recruiter (the guy is attracting pretty decent talent to Toledo...and lots of it)...he will land a nice gig sometime soon. We'd have no problem buying out his contract, I think he's @ like 125,000k a year.

I hope that you aren't lumping me in with the blue hairs , Doyle. Even though I am 65, I don't color my hair, of which I still have plenty, and it's not even half gray.
Honestly, I don't care who gets the job. I just hate to see a man get bashed because he is older. One's usefulness, and one's youthfulness doesn't necessarily end at 50. There are plenty of miles left in me.
