I agree with those who think he sticks with Ole Miss but the Richmond recruitment has all the signs of a player being forced into a decision that he doesn't like. After this weekend he will have visited Knoxville A LOT since last July (at least 5 times I believe).
Everyone respectable in the UT recruiting world said Drew Richmond's recruitment would go all the way to signing day. If he had committed to UT on sept 9th, it would have been the same but in reverse for UT and Ole Miss. I'm still baffled that people are "fed up" or "surprised" that this is the way his recruitment has played out when those in the know had told everyone it was going to go all the way to signing day.
There are a lot of things in play here. I'm not going to get into all the details, but things are trending for UT, but nothing is in stone. Just sit back and see how the visit this weekend goes with his family. Richmond did not like Mahoney, but Mahoney has really put some effort as of late and i think that issue has cleared up a bit. There are a couple smaller ones, but i like what i've heard on the Richmond front.
Sit back and enjoy the ride, it's going to be a fun signing day, we have 2 or 3 recruitment situations that can go either way.
On Wednesday, Jones and multiple Tennessee coaches are expected in the home of 5-star offensive tackle Drew Richmond. Richmond, who is committed to Ole Miss, also confirmed to Volquest that he will be in Knoxville this weekend for an official visit. At this time we expect his family to make the trip with him as well.
Jones may not be the only coach Richmond receives a visit from Wednesday as some close to the Alabama program told Volquest.com that Nick Saban and tide offensive line coach Mario Cristobal were expected in Memphis on Wednesday to see Richmond.
Despite a recent commitment from 4-star offensive tackle Isaiah Prince, Alabama will continue to pursue Richmond because of Prince's likely visit to Ohio State this weekend. There are a few other offensive linemen on the board for Alabama we're told, but Richmond could quickly become a top target.
Maybe the momentum shift is a result of the potential staff reorganization??
