Chris Kyle: American hero or

Its hard to define whats a hero nowadays. Most people will lump all military into that category. I don't put myself in that category. I just did my job which in turn helped other people do their jobs which may or may not have included lots of killing and saving lives. I knew a firefighter who proudly would claim he was a hero just for being a firefighter even though he had never actually put out a fire, got a cat out of a tree, or performed any rescue services.

My experiences with the SEALS outside of Afghanistan/Iraq was always one where they were going to rescue people. Once it was some French students in Africa, and a few instances "down south". Air Force Pararescue tags along on a lot of those missions and I've actually seen them save more lives than anyone else. I believe there was a documentary about one of their units in Afghanistan. It's an interesting watch.

It's where and what I thought it was. Italian pasta and 2 plus salad. Would probably never walk through the door. Nothing wrong with it just not well known.

Edit: After reading the reviews, there are several reasons not to go to Louis'. Don't think it will make my go to list. If you want good Italian/Greek homestyle comfort food, try Pero's in Rocky Hill.

tipping? dubya t F mate!

since we are on the topic this is how I tip. (just the tip)

$22.00 meal..take 22 double it to 44 then make it $4.40..an even 20%. I learned this the hard way by dating a chick who was a waitress and the horror she experienced when she saw I was only leaving 10%.

My wife waited tables in college. I was tipping 18% when it was 15%. Went to 20% when it went to 18%. I have always overtpped for good service; now days, 25% or more. I reserve the right to undertip when it's crappy. I don't tend to go where the evictee is continually mediocre to poor.

P.S. wife grew up in the Fountain City area and says Louis is terrible.

There were like a hundred Louis restaurants last time I lived in Knoxville, I worked at Peros on Kingston Pike back in the eighties, Al Peroulas was a friend of the family. Also enjoyed the quarterback and Regas when I felt like dressing up..

Is that the same Peros that is in Rocky Hill? One of the owners name is Chandler. I can never remember the other owner.

I just googled it, that's a new location. It looks like Sammy, Al's son is partnered up with him. Googled the old QB restaurant and I see Connie, another friend of my parents passed last year.. Great people and good food, I can't ever remember having to pay for a meal there. Connie and Pete were class acts.

Yep, Sammy and Chandler. If you want good Italian/Greek homestyle food at good prices served with a damn good local/microbrew beer selection, Pero's is the place to be. Although one should be prepared for an 18% to %20 tip since the service and food are outstanding. This isn't an Italian "pasta and three" hole in the wall.

Well good for them and your precious heart, sweetheart.

Most servers don't though.

I guess you just instilled such excellent virtues in your children that they were inherently great servers.

And to think none of you have ever heard of Louis's in Knoxville.

Clowns.

If you're not making at least 15 dollars an hour serving, then it's your fault for picking a ****ty place to work.

Back when I was working 40 hours service industry weeks, I was at 3 different places. I made sure of it because certain places were busy on certain days. I was easily averaging about 25 dollars an hour, every hour that I worked.

Statistics say frumpy women and black men get sh*tty tips. I don't vouch for these statistics, but they're there.

My favorite Knoxville joints were all hole in the walls.

Glenwood Cafe
Chandlers (omfg, that place is the best)
The Creamery in Fountain City
Oodles Uncorked
Crown and Goose
Barley's

I like where this thread is going.

Also, 79, your gratuity standards make you a dickbutt. May all of your Old Fashioneds be muddled with rotten cherries, withered oranges, moldy sugar, and ****ty well whiskey.

Also, I hope they undercook your pulled pork and make you **** through a screen door.

Generally, the server's attitude when they walk up to the table determines how the experience is going to go. I am beginning to get over the tats, but if you look like you need a shower and have crap sticking out of your face then, I may get up and leave. Weight and color make no difference to me. I know a couple of black guys that are servers and they are generally WAY more professional than the norm.

If your server has sh*t on their face, I believe it is your civic duty to call a health inspector

You got some kind of fecal fetish?

No, more like a fecal aversion. Ego the reason I don't sit at tables that are waited on by kids that are expressing themselves with dumbass piercings in their faces. In other words crap sticking out of their faces.

What if its tribal? Do you hate women with exceptionally long necks?
