Someone on VQ brought up a pretty eye-opening statistic about the DE position.

Jacques Smith had 21.5 TFL and 5 sacks in his entire career at Tennessee.
Derek Barnett had 20.5 TFL and 10 sacks in one season.

Imagine Maggitt and Barnett on UGA's last-ditch effort drive in 2013 when Murray marched them down the field to tie it up. He had all day to throw, but with those two on the ends, there's no way we go to OT.

Lack of a pass rush killed us so many times in the past 4-5 years.

SEC West is going to be nuts for recruiting battles... It looks like Bama is indeed going to move Lupoi into a full time staff role now that the heat is off him from sitting out a year. Just when you want to laugh at Bama; Saban pulls a dang upgrade.

Lupoi/Garner/Coach O/ Chris Liffin recruiting battles..... Oh my the NCAA should just follow whatever kid those 4 start going toe to toe for if they want to find a good wviolation

I think Azzanni or Thig will get coordinator position offers after next season.

Azzanni is a future head coach, IMO.

Same thing happens in college. Coaching is like politics and Hollywood you can never truly disappear from it unless you want to or as Edwin Edwards put it, "The only way I can lose this election is if I'm caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy." Those two things might get you kicked out of it these days but times have changed and I'm not so sure.

The NFL and NBA just seem to hire retreads all of the time. That said, players seem to like Rex. His GM did not help him out in NY because their personnel on offense was terrible. He did go to two conference championship games. I am still not sure that Buffalo is a great fit because they need some offensive weapons as well, but I think Greg Roman should help on that side.

From what I was told, it was more academics than his draft grade that led him to this decision.

I could see jake getting a head coaching job after this year and people persuing CZA for an OC position but Butch promotes him to OC from within.

Honestly if he was a younger I think Strip would be the best HC prospect on the staff.

I was looking at recent bama teams and their number of returning starters. 2010 jumps out, when they finished the regular season 9-3 and lost to LSU, SCAR, and auburn. They only returned 10 starters, 2 on defense and 8 on offense. It seems like their situation is even worse for the upcoming year because that team still had McElrory, Ingram, and Julio as upperclassman. The team was still loaded with NFL talent, but the heavy majority were young and untested and it lead to a substandard year based off their recent success.

I definitely think they could have a similar year, and it could be a perfect storm for us to finally get a win in that rivalry.

Strip does have a 100% winning percentage as a head coach.

I know Alabama has plenty of great athletes to replace all the one's they're losing but I don't see how they can replace everything they're losing an still win 11-12 games...I say Vols win in October
