Yes, I like Cox so much that I tell them "You and me are nothing but mammals, so lets do it like they do on the Discovery Channel."
But seriously, this team has the pitching to get to Omaha.
Thanks for the work you are doing in the baseball forum BTW.
FWIW Zach Lingenfelter is the real deal from what I can tell and hear. We are in the same county and his HS plays our HS. You could tell early he should be on the radar. Not quite a protege and as far along as Wil Crowe was at that age, but plenty of time. Wil played SS/3rd, hit .500+ with power while pitching 150+ innings with a very low ERA his senior season and their team won the state. Wil had 3 pitches mastered when he left HS and was close on two more. Walks into USCe and is their ace as a freshman. Zach will probably have 2 mastered and working on a couple more from what I have heard. But he has plenty of time. Big guy like Wil. The baseball around east TN is reasonably strong and getting stronger. Was really glad he committed.
Serrano just inked the #12 class in the country. He pulled two #1 guys at their respective positions.
Ke'Bryan Hayes- #1 Third Baseman
Chris Betts- #1 Catcher
Trey Cabbage- #125 overall player. Infielder
Will Neely- #106 overall player. Pitcher
Daniel Neal- #208 overall player. Utility
Bryant Harris- #135 overall player. Outfielder
Just to name a few. ***All rankings came from Perfect Game.
What sux about baseball recruiting is if they're really good, they will most likely opt for the draft and a great class suddenly collapses. Are any of these guys projected to be highly drafted?
I love baseball as much as I love football. There are a ton of people doing football analysis, but there is no one doing analysis of the baseball team. I figure I can help VN by being the baseball guy along with Vol66.
I am just as excited about him as much as you are. I hope we can get him here.
It only pays about 50% of instate tuition at UT, no room and board. Tuition at UT is double what it is at a community college.
The hope comes up about $17000 short of covering instate tuition, housing and meal program at UT. It's great to get the $4000 but that's a drop in the bucket when it comes to the total cost.
There is a new program for this year's graduating high school class that will cover all the tuition for a JUCO or Technical School for two years. This is a great way to get your first two years out of the way for only the cost of books, but you can't use it for UT.

The HOPE has only inflated the cost of education in Tennessee. Kids are still having to pay what they would have paid before the HOPE was initiated. It was a way for the state government to pay for their contribution to the education system but after the inflation it did very little to help middle class kids get an education. They still will be burdened with hefty student loans. Rich families can afford education and the the poor gets government assistance. Go figure. This is like everything else in that the working class is totally ignored.
yep, I bet if you were to graph the lottery money with the recent rise in tuition it would be linear
I was totally shocked at how little impact the Hope actually made toward tuition. I think the state wants the majority of students to attend community college for two years prior to entering the university system.

its not a terrible idea, I think most of the students that I went to school with at a community college got into med, vet, or pharmacy school eventually. I also remember that the book that we used for organic chemistry was the same one used at Vanderbilt.
