Game managers are typically guys who don't throw deep, don't turn it over, and have a strong run game to rely on. Like I said, Stanton is the opposite of all of these things.

Good game managers complete more than 55% of their passes too

That's cause they don't usually throw deep. Dilfer won a SB completing 59% and he wasn't throwing deep. Stanton might not have a reliable running game, but the D definitely keys on Ellington.

BTW, when I complimented Stanton on his game management it was weeks ago, when he had 0 picks on the year and had only thrown for 200+ yards once.

That rationale ("Let's throw deep; he's more likely to get picked, but the payoff is bigger too") is absolutely not conservative.

Unless you think your QB is likely to get picked on shorter passes too, which means you don't think he's a very good game manager.

I don't think he's more likely to get picked throwing deep into one-on-one coverage, I just the think the cost of getting picked deep is lower than getting picked across the middle. The D has more ways to fool you with coverages.

Better risk/reward, IMO.

Also, they get a ton PI and holding calls, because Fitz and Floyd are just so damn hard to cover deep. It's a pretty effective strategy, and the benefit doesn't all show up in his passing stats.

So much for cards they've fallen without Palmer and have lost two straight. They'll need to turn it around avoid a collapse as the Seahawks are gaining momentum and in their rear view mirror.

Looks like packers could be as they are a perfect 6-0 at home, 9-3 and recently defeated the patriots to cool them off. They scored on their first five possessions in a game they never trailed , pats great offense held to 21 points.

You cant mean the Patriots with a comment like that. Im not saying it's not the Patriots but they beat the Jets by 1....the Jets.

If you see when I posted, it was just as Seattle was finishing their drubbing of Arizona. They're clearly the best team in the league.

Right now they certainly look like they are. But Arizona is down to their 3rd string QB too.

I'd say top to bottom there are 3 teams who are arguably #1 - Denver, New England and Seattle.

1. Pats
2. Packers
3. Seahawks

You can put these three in any order and easily defend yourself. FTR, I think the list is correct as is. If Green Bay gets homefield advantage, I don't think Seattle can go in there and win.

I'm an admitted Peyton hater, but you can't put Denver in there regardless. He's lost zip and you have to worry about them going on the road.

If GB gets homefield, I dont know if anyone can go in there and get a win.

Pretty slim chance Green Bay gets homefield advantage. Can't see St Louis beating Seattle.

Not just the Arizona outcome that's impressive, last six games they've only given up 33 points.

No doubt their D is great, I would worry if they met up with a team that started scoring, could Seattle's offense keep up? I am not so sure.

AFC Best:Broncos
NFC Best:Cowboys

I'd love a rematch of Super Bowl XII

Would be a rematch of Big D vs little d(also known as the Orange Crush) as they called it back then.

But in the words of Eminem:
Will the Real D please stand up.
Go Lions

I'm not denying how good Seattle is, especially defensively, but the Seahawks have played some big name teams during this run, however, that's just it. They are big in name only. The first victory over the Stanton led Cardinals might be their best win in this run. Wins during this 8-1 run:

Oakland
Carolina
New York Football Giants
Arizona (Drew Stanton as qb)
San Francisco
Philly (Sanchez as qb)
San Francisco
Arizona (Lindley as qb)

If you remove Arizona from this list, the opponents W/L total in this stretch? 31-43
And before there are foul cries about removing Arizona from this list, let's note that 'Zona is 3-3 since Palmer went down and has since lost their backup qb as well.
