What would be adequate, strong punishment iyo?

Honestly chavis, have no idea. 1 game maybe? Maybe the bowl game? I know this is usually handled "internally". Just curious if he tries to make a point out of this to set the tone, since MJ was found in the car. Of course, Mac is used to living in Colorado, so he may still think it's legal.

It's a little different than normal because it's his first punishment. This is the one that sets the tone for his tenure. I'd personally sit him for the bowl, not because his crime was that bad, but because I'd want to start cleaning up the culture Chump left behind.

Agree. Like you said, somehow he's never had a license...couple that with the MJ, and I think you have to set the tone for your program.

I know. It is still a misdemeanor just like driving on a suspended.

Right, but I'd think a new coach would want to send a message about committing crimes, whether driving on suspended or without one at all.

Whether or not he's charged with the pot, you don't want to tell your new team as long as they find ways around getting legally charged, they can do whatever they want.

For something serious, yes. If coaches sent a message any time a misdemeanor is committed, no one would ever field a team worth watching. It is what it is...

Agree with Volatil. All depends on if Harris fits into his plans or not. Just the way it is.

Ha I think you're right.

Even remotely considering kicking a kid off a team for driving without a license is one of the more comical conversations this thread has had in a while IMO (and that's saying something). Remember Jalen Hurd was cited/"arrested" for a misdemeanor as well, should he be shown the door as well?

I know Florida is a rival and this dude is a new coach, but there is no way kicking him off the team should be on the table IMO.

Suspending him for that trip to Birmingham and the game might be a reward, not a punishment. He should force him to go and play the whole game...

You missed the whole point of the conversation.

It would be a statement only if Harris doesn't fit in his plans.

None of us actually believe that would happen.

McElwain has an out since an interim is coaching the bowl. I would anticipate some internal discipline and little else.

Harbaugh makes verbal agreement to become Michigan's next coach:

Report: Harbaugh makes verbal agreement to come to Michigan - WNEM TV 5

Didn't Gruden also make a "verbal agreement" to coach here according to the insiders? The parallels between the two situations are just eerily similar.

I actually think Michigan has a chance at landing Harbaugh, but it would be pretty glorious to watch the fallout if he leads them on well into January and then gets scooped up by Oakland.

I don't think local TV stations were reporting it

This matter with Harris will be taken care of "internally" and he will get his drivers license before the court hearing and all will be fine. He'll play in the bowl game. JMO
Edit: If the Tennessean reporters get involved they'll be demanding that he be jailed without bond.
