There is a 50/50 chance of Cutler landing in Nashville next year. Game tonight will be most important- if Titans win that will bump up odds. Jacksonville will be trading #1 pick (if they have it) and OAK doesn't need a QB. TB is the best 2 win team in years (prior to McCoy injury).

Todd Mcshay has Mariota going to TB and Winston going to the Titans.

Please no

Here's the important part:

"The source called it a “non-issue” for Hurd that has already been addressed with internal discipline by the coaching staff."

In other words, there will not be any further consequences for Hurd in the Iowa game.

It was underage drinking. If the story is true, he wouldn't have even been "out" had the officer not called him down. As long as he didn't do anything else stupid while drinking (and it appears he didn't), his internal punishment should be completely sufficient for a first offense.

Suspended for Vol Walk should suffice.

Regarding Helm: I've talked to some people here in IL who know him well. Great kid, will do very well in life. Sorry it didn't work out in Tennessee, but no hard feelings. Easy kid to root for.

Really hoping that the Titans select Mariota. I like him so much better in so many ways as compared to Winston. The last thing the Titans and the whole organization needs is Winston's shenanigans. Please be smart about the draft pick, make it count.

I think that story is either incomplete or the officer was a huge jerk. I really doubt the facts as described even get prosecuted.

I would like to see the Titans draft a QB just because the franchise is utterly forgettable and having Mariota or (gasp) Winston would at least make it interesting. But sadly, I think the best route is to trade down, load up on picks, repeat in 2015 and likely 2016 and hope Mettenberger and the rest of the team can make some noise in 2017.

Ugly future for the Titans, especially with Whiz at the helm, but that's the reality in Nashville right now.

The best organizations are able to trust their evaluation process and decide if a player is a franchise type QB...I'm not familiar with the current Titans brain trust. Are these the same scout and front office personnel who blue lighted Jake Locker?

Mariota is not the type of QB that Wiz generally likes. He loves tall pocket passer statues with the big arm to run his offense, at least according to Mark Howard, Frank Wycheck, and Kevin Ingram of the Wake Up zone. I don't know all that much about Wiz, but that does seem to be his preference at previous stops.

Or Pac Man, VY, Griffin, Andre Wolfolk, Tank Williams? ???

I doubt they pick a QB first.

I've heard this as well. I think physically, Winston could be a franchise QB...but goodness, what a risk. Not only is he playing terrible football as of late, but he's also the biggest head case since Ryan Leaf.

Of course, with the Titans' luck, he'll somehow fall to the Texans and turn out to be the next Andrew Luck and never have a single off the field incident.

I agree. If Mariota is there at 2, maybe you take a flyer on him, but if he isn't, you trade that spot for a bevy of 2nd/mid round picks to build quality depth for the future and ride the Mettenberger train. We've taken too many risks on poor character guys in the past to go right back to square one with Winston.

I wonder how much interest the Eagles would have in Mariota?

NFL trades confuse the hell out of me, especially when it pertains to draft picks and other teams getting involved, so I have no idea how that would work, but they seem like the one team that would benefit from him in the future the most.

I'm a panthers guy not a titans fan but you guys would be fools to take Winston or Mariota. Aside from Wilson the run oriented passer is utter fools gold. We have Cam Newton one of the most durable versions and it just rarely works. Build a team and any competent QB can get you to a SB. Trent Dilfer approves this message.
