You're missing the point. If we'd signed 30 three stars our attrition would be 3*s. The fact is we signed a fantastic class all around so of course attrition will be composed of what we signed.

The sky isn't falling.

The funny thing is people would find a way to gripe about this as well lol. Also that would hurt some of our positions, sadly.

The 2014 class is seriously losing its luster. Virtually everyone we have lost was a top 250 4 star player.

Barnett, Hurd, Todd Kelly, Moseley, Evan Berry, Wolf Etc. are not losing their luster. Also McDowell and Gaulden are head hunters on special teams.

My dad always said, if it looks like a duck and and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck (i.e. there are too many kids jumping ship for this to be an anomaly).

Are the coaches too tough? Did they set unrealistic expectations for playing time during the recruiting process? Do we have a problem integrating freshmen into the program/school?

It's easy to 'explain away' one or two defections. This seems to be turning into a systemic problem, though.

I guess because of the inability to talk about recruits rule there is no way to know right now if any EE's will be joining the team in the short run. In any event that's my take away from the other thread.

SIAP/merge if needed/ etc...

Just wanted to report this for those that haven't seen it yet. Kahlil McKenzie's father and VFL, Reggie McKenzie could be fired as GM of the Oakland Raiders soon. If you are crazy about recruiting or just want to be in the loop, keep this in mind if you tweet at him or see him on campus. Obviously VolNation wishes the McKenzie family the best of luck.

JONES: Daniel Helm has decided he'll go to another school. Hendrix and Scott will also be going to other schools.

We'll there it is. All the "you can't talk about it till it's confirmed" people can talk about it now.

Next man up. I'd be worried if this were the Dooley era and our recruiting wasn't going so well. These guys will be missed, but they also will be replaced with similar or better talent.

No doubt. I also think folks are stuck in the Dooley years in terms of mindset but this wasn't a Dooley class composed of fifteen 3*s and only three 4*s. And the 2015 class is showing that the '14 class was not an anomaly.

Attrition sucks but it's incredibly normal and our staff has shown we will get more. It's not like in the Dooley years when losing a 4* meant that guy would never be replaced.

Helm, Hendrix, Henderson, Scott, Sawyers, are ALL GONE...........you can book it !! Some of these kids have been catered to their whole life and have got their way most of the time, but when you get to this level, you have EARN your way and some just don't want to go through the tough times. Paulk will be back.....so, next years RBs will be Hurd, Kamara, Reid, Paulk (I think that will work)...........the only 2 I cant figure out is Sawyers and Hendrix as they will both see INCREASED playing time next year, but I guess they think w/ Mckenzie and Tuttle, Picou coming that they can't beat them out for playing time.................

It's not falling but my point stands. Take away Hendrix, Scott, Helm, Paulk, Sawyers (potentially) and Henderson and the 2014 class becomes fairly pedestrian for the SEC.

We don't have the depth to just shrug our shoulders and move on without feeling the impact of those losses. Without Hendrix and Henderson, we will have to rely on freshmen at DE again next year. Without Helm, we're relying on more inexperienced TEs. Same at RB after losing Scott and Paulk.
