Eric Garner Grandy Jury Decision Today

Do you know what a metaphor is? If you find the metaphor, you will find the "tongue in cheek". As for your interpretation of the rest of his statement, you are either being wilfully obtuse, or you aren't old enough to know what obtuse means.

I think I'll wait for huff to answer as you're not capable of answering for him.

btw, at 46, I'm not quite as old as Gramps, but I know what obtuse means and I know how to spell "willfully".

edit, I think I see the problem. Go back to huff's quote and read the bit that doesn't talk about the Yankees picking their umpire.

Shoot him, duh.

There were 228,000 misdemeanor arrests last yr in NYC and not a single one ended in the person's death....Maybe it falls back on Eric Garner to actually comply with the cops. Like always, everyone makes a joke but cant describe how they would have fulfilled their job duty differently.

Is the maneuver banned or not? Where is the clause that says "banned:unless petty criminal is a giant fatass". That's like saying it's ok for an NFL defensive back to horse collar Calvin Johnson. How else is he supposed to tackle him?

He pointed out that there is a conflict of interest. You responded by saying "so all cops that are convicted were convicted because of an axe to grind" or some such argument. The fact that it is a conflict of interest doesn't mean that it will always yield an illegitimate conclusion. Look at the NCAA playoff selection committee. Rife with conflict of interest. Does that mean they got it wrong this time? No. But the possibility is always there for a DA with an axe to grind or the opposite as long as the workers of the state are tried in a state run trial.

My assumption is that outside of Dinkin' no one on here has had their ass kicked by the police. Why is that fellas? Is it because we don't engage in criminal activity or act a fool when confronted by the police? This stuff isn't rocket science. It's not your everyday run of the mill law abiding citizens that are constantly involved in these types of things.
Damn near every time something like this arises, the so called "victim" has a rap sheet a mile long. Maybe if they'd learn to quit breaking the law and acting like idiots they wouldn't be getting beaten down by the cops.

Did he choke him? that's what they say....but until I'm walking the beat and dealing with the daily thuggery and BS the cops do, I'm reserving judgment on the guy because his arm was an inch and a half out of position.

There is a video. He was put in a choke. That's not debatable.

You would be wrong. At 16 I had mine thoroughly kicked by a deputy, 12 stiches and a dislocated shoulder.

so when a cop doesn't get indicted, it's because of a cozy relationship with the DA, but when he does get indicted, it's because the DA has an axe to grind?

it must be nice to live in a world where everything is an either/or proposition

I don't know why you inferred that from what I said.

I explained 2 reasons that there is a conflict of interest and for some reason you took that to mean I think there are only two possible outcomes.

I'm not debating that. I'm saying that cops have a rough job that's not respected or appreciated by many. I personally don't care that he choked him while trying to use a submission hold. The autopsy report says that his windpipe wasn't crushed....he wasn't choked to death. he died because he was a stupid thug.....perhaps it was at the hands of a stupid cop as well....fact remains that he put himself in that situation.

Nobody is trying to say this guy was innocent or that he was some kind of Saint. That's completely irrelevant to the issue at hand. He didn't comply with police. Their response was to use a banned maneuver to subdue him long enough to put cuffs on. It isn't ok. Stop trying to defend it.

You asked of they choked him. What else is it called when someone is put in a choke hold?

So, people that have tough jobs that aren't respected should be expected to cut corners and play free and loose with other people's lives?

Everyone said he should be reprimanded bc it was against police policy......Its also not against the law in NYC to use the hold he used to subdue a perp which is why he is not going to jail

He's not going to jail because he lives in a police worshipping state.

Have u tried to subdue someone weighing 350 pounds.....I don't think u would be as quick to judge if u had. I watched two cops trying to subdue a 150 pound woman at walmart and their were body parts flying everywhere. Its easy to judge sitting in your underwear on the couch typing on your cpu.
