I think we need a 16 team playoff with the conference championship games being the first round. Of course that would mean we would have to have 8 conferences with 2 divisions each but that is the only fair way to crown a champion.

It's very much like NFL playoff system but I believe they have it pretty close to right.

You could still have bowl games for teams that didn't qualify or maybe even a "best of the rest" playoff for really good teams that didn't make it.

Last year shouldn't matter tho. I still think you have to put em in but they've played nobody. I don't think any of the other potential playoff teams are scared of them. Might be the team they want the most.

Maybe. GT was a solid team. The 2 most sound looking teams on both sides after watching tonight are OSU and Bama.

If they were in the same division they would have already faced each other and settled it on the field. Basically the whole season would be a playoff.

What about a three way tie?

A team like Mizzou isn't more deserving than a Mississippi State, TCU, or even UGA.

JMO I think an 6 or 8 team playoff is the way to go

Either way not having it and the way OSU finished screwed them. That said imo you cannot deny OSU after that performance.

Why should finishing matter more than the rest of the season? Look at quality wins, look at losses. What Baylor did to OU KSU TCU is equal at least, and their loss was more respectable.

16 teams.
All conference champions are given a birth, even the lowly ones. Use BCS to determine the 6 at large spots. Seed teams 1-16, and go.

Since the beginning of time it has always been about how you finish and additionally who your coach is. How else do you explain all of Bama's chances.

A 3 way tie for what? The division? We never see any controversy about who goes to the conf championship games. The conf championships would be the first round of the playoff. It's the only way for it to be truly fair.

Baylor will not make it in. They should in a different set up but the blanking by OSU against a really sound Wisconsin team is what killed them.

It should really be boiled down to 6 conferences all with a championship and the Champions of each playing their way in. Plus 2 matrix selected redo's for conferences with more talent than others like SEC.

Also, imagine the disaster if we still had last year's system and had to narrow it to only 2. Undefeated FSU? Oregon? Bama? That would be an even bigger cluster eff.

I just can't get past Ohio St losing to a 6-6 VaTech team that lost to Wake Forest 6-3 in double overtime...

I could not fathom Bama got beat by LSU and yet still got the chance to play them again and won a NC. It's never how you start and always how you finish.

Exactly! but we need 8 major conferences, 16 divisions. Championship game is the first round. Pretty simple really.

If you are in a weaker conference you have an advantage plus stretching to 8 conferences waters it down. With 6+2 you could have a stacked conference send 2 or 3 to the playoffs.
