Watching the Cincy-Houston game. Cincy has put together an excellent first drive. Can anyone tell me why we don't run they're offense? Ours is very similar in that they do a lot of read options but instead of throwing bubble screens, they tend to throw 8-10 yard curl routes. I'd like to see us do this more as it makes our offense more vertical. It's seems to work well for them and while Kiel might be a better passer than Dobbs, our receivers are better than Cincy's.

The reason we don't get more vertical is simple: when the OL fails you throw quick/sideways. When the OL gives you at least a split second of time you can throw downfield. It's a matter of the OL collapsing.

Note: Alabama, USC, and UK we threw the ball downfield. THEN Crowder got hurt and our oline got noticeably worse and we went sideways for Mizzou and Vandy.

So my wife and I are wandering around baby stores. She picked up one of those towels with a hood attached for babies. I noticed the hood was an elephant head and had to explain that our child will not be associated with whorish animals like the elephant. Blue tick hounds only imo.

Well done :)

If our line is still porous next year I look for a wildcat option with Hurd, Dobbs, and Kamara in. I could see that being effective.

Yes. But to do so, we'll have to win the "bad break" games we lost this year like UGA and UF. We can't come out flat like ole miss or Bama either.

I feel like this season had several games with garbage quarters and halves Where the play calling, play execution, and unforced errors wasted 15-30 minutes of game clock.

Also can't do things like throw picks in the end zone and fumble in our own.

I think every team does that. The difference is we don't yet have the talent or depth to overcome those things. Teams that are stable with depth and talent (see Mizzou) hang around and survive those things. Hard to do when you have a dozen freshman getting significant playing time. (JMO)

"FRESHMEN M.I.A. AT PRACTICE

Tennessee was down a couple freshmen at Saturday's practice as neither Derrell Scott nor Dewayne Hendrix practiced with the team.

The status on both Scott and Hendrix are unclear at this time and their future with the Vols are in question.

Scott saw action in two games and carried the ball 11 times for 40 yards. Hendrix played in seven games and finished with two total tackles."

So Hendrix and Scott may not come back... wtf?

Hmmm. We know some of this is coming, but I will disappointed if we lose Hendrix. Thought he would be dynamic.

Those are two CRITICAL pieces. Hendrix was supposed to have a ton of potential, and Scott would be the only returning SEC quality RB back other than Hurd.

Losing Scott and Hendrix would suck, but it's the price you pay when you recruit at an elite level. I'm sure both Hendrix and Scott thought they would come in and start from day one, but they are both overshadowed by other freshmen.

Both positions will be ok, but I thought Hendrix would be a difference maker. Kamara will help the RB's and will play immediately anyway.

Wouldn't read to much into it at this point. Could be anything.

Yes but you need at least 3 good running backs in this conference. Woukd suck bad to lose both. Hendrix has a ton of potential

Scott doesn't surprise me. I told you guys that he's been homesick.

Losing Hendrix would freaking suck

I don't like losing Hendrix. Makes Phillips more important.

But Scott - meh. Thought he was already going to be recruited over.

Scott, not surprised. Homesick, injured, disappointing freshman season. I think he is being recruited over as well. I'm not sure losing Scott is that much of a loss. Hendrix I had very high hopes for. I was expecting him to be a difference maker on the defense his junior and senior seasons and pretty solid next year. Would really hate to lose Hendrix.

I'm curious as to why Hendrix would want to leave. He's going to get his time to shine

He's only a freshman. For those to suggest he has been recruited over is ridiculous. Not everyone sets the world on fire their freshman year. He was injured and set back. He's an extremely talented back, and the few carries he got were behind an awful OLine. The fact that Jalen was the only one to do anything out of the backfield speaks volumes how good he was. Scott isn't being recruited over, especially when we only have Kamara and a shaky commitment in Reid

Apparently I was the only one who saw this new 30 for 30 on Arian Foster. It was on at 4 am when I got home this morning.

Arian likes to blame everyone for everything.

It chronicled his career from HS to NFL.

His mother says she was a part of the "message board scene" at UT. She said many fans questioned his work ethic and heart. Foster made the comment "all the fans labeled me as a guy who had a fumble problem". He spent a lot of time bad mouthing Tennessee fans.

The part I took exception with came when he was talking about his last year here. He said "Tennessee had it's worst year in the program's storied history but I didn't have much to do with that." He went on to say that he and the coaching staff disagreed and he didn't many carries. He made it sound like the reason we lost so many games is because they didn't give him the ball.

I'm disappointed in him. He has gone out of his way on multiple occasion to put UT down. He wants everyone to think his story is one of struggle. Many of you know, I used to own a business where I was a contractor for FEDEX. I owned the Brentwood area. There was an hotel named AmeriSuites on my route. Foster's dad was the general manager there when he played here. Foster wanted everyone to think he was this broke "hungry kid needing tacos" while his dad was knocking down big bucks nearby. His dad moved here from San Diego to be close to Arian and saw him every week. He told me he goes to Knoxville every weekend.

I have a problem with someone who constantly wants to be the victim. He goes out of his way to say "look at me, I made it from nothing". Don't let him fool you, he's not one of these kids that came from the projects and had to fight their way out.
