Just rewatched the very end of the Vandy game. Did y'all notice that Butch blew up on someone on the sideline long after the game was over and he had just celebrated with the team?

It was bizarre. He went from being happy Butch to wide-eyed veins popping out of his neck Butch and just tore into the guy.

And I'll be honest... I didn't care much for Muschamp losing his cool like like that and I can't say it's a good look for Butch either. Especially after a win.

Did not see that. I noticed that he did his "kneel" that he does in big moments right as it ended. Then he got some congratulations and met with Mason. He spent several seconds in Mason's ear, and Butch was the one talking. I am guessing he told him that they played really well. Then, I saw him grab and hug Coleman Thomas and told the players to head to the UT fans.

Yep, it was after all of this. Right before the broadcast cuts off. It looks like the guy he blew up on is Chris Spognardi, the director of football operations who has been with him since CMU, I believe.

Eh, Chris will shake it off and bounce back.

Interesting. It seems like he has done it more this year than last- maybe pressure. I only remember the outburst at the UGA game last year. I really don't mind some of it directed at the officials because I think they deserve it. Not a conspiracy theorist, but I believe the officials sometimes favor the perennial "winning" teams, and Butch is trying to get over that. There was one time on the Vandy game that he had a stern talk with the side judge but it appeared the official was concerned and respected him. I have never liked the Muschamp look, but I can now see that Butch has those type moments.

Need a coaching search thread for over here. For discussing recruits possibly in play too.

SIAP. One of the reasons I enjoy College Football is because of the emotion. It's perfectly displayed in this video from the UAB locker room.

Fair warning, there's some choice words in the video.

It's called emotion and caring. Sticking up for your players a lot of times.I'm fine with it.

Sticking up for your players when they're celebrating a win on the sideline in front of Tennessee fans?

Only reason I brought it up is because of how bizarre it seemed. He goes from jubilant and singing Rocky Top to blasting Spognardi with veins protruding.

Tough scene.

#freethedragon recruit Salako

Seeing Florida fans complain and complain about Muschamp trying to run a pro-style offense and then fake being happy and claiming McElwain is an offensive guru and that they love the potential of his pro style offense is hysterical to me.

McElwain has proven himself in the SEC. Why shouldn't they be lauding his potential?

Every team with a new coach does it but when you take a coaches best attributes and put it in an a bulleted format and pass it around to tell the casual fan why he kicks ass it's kind of amusing.

As a HC???

Muschamp proved himself too prior to arriving there.

I'm sorry but Florida is a top 5 job and Mcelwain is NOT a top 5 coach at this point in his career.

I fully expected a homerun hire. This is a double IMO

Here's what a gator fan sent me in regards to my questions on how he felt about the Colorado coach

McElwain helped the Tide win two national championships (2009, 2011) with a potent and balanced pro-style offense. He coached a Heisman Trophy winner (tailback Mark Ingram) in 2009 and a Heisman finalist (tailback Trent Richardson) in 2011.

During his four seasons in Tuscaloosa, in which the Tide went 48-6, McElwain’s offense turned the ball over fewer times than any team in the nation — 57 over that span.

In 2011, McElwain’s offense led the SEC in rushing (219.8 yards a game) and was second in total offense (433.4 yards a game).

Florida certainly knows first-hand about McElwain’s offense. In the Tide’s 32-13 victory over the Gators and Tim Tebow in the 2009 SEC Championship Game, the Tide rolled up 490 yards (251 rushing, 239 passing) against one of the nation’s strongest defenses.
And he took CSU to 10-2. I realize that Tenn could be undefeated if they played CSU's schedule, but recruiting to CSU ain't easy. In 2012, when he took over they had the #122 ranked recruiting class. Out of 124. In 2013, his first full cycle, #83. 2014, #77. That's the average that they've always gotten. There is little tradition, facilities, fan support, etc. I'd doubt if they've EVER had a 4 star recruit, let alone a 5 star. His QB this year, according to the Heisman Trust is a legitimate contender, with the 3rd highest passer rating in the nation! The guy can coach.

I'm sure his Bama championship rings didn't hurt on the recruiting trail. We soon shall see. Anyone with a good steady pulse should do relatively well at UF.

Actually, he's been pretty average recruiting there. His predecessor actually did slightly better towards the end of his tenure. What he's done is coach them up.

Cool. Muschamp was undefeated against us and we play Saban yearly it can hardly get worse. New day new opportunities.

Man...i hate it for all those guys. Heartwrenching situation to be in for sure. Here's to hoping every last one of them get a shot somewhere else. :hi:

That is really unusual. Spags is his best friend and right-hand man.

I couldn't find the exact time mentioned because I think my stupid DVR stopped before it but I noticed Butch doing what I call the "tough guy talk" (Grrr I told you we could do this man!) many times while they were celebrating. I think it may be possible that is all he was doing because he looks angry when he is doing it. Can't say for sure though because of my stupid DVR! :)

Ok RF posters pretend you are Hart for a day and Butch's agent just raised the stakes with talks of UM job. What do you pay him and what terms do you give him. At what dollar value do you tell him thanks but no thanks. Obviously silly season will see several of these salaries rise, like Freeze but this gives a general idea.

Head Coach School Salary
Nick Saban Alabama $5.62 million*
Kevin Sumlin Texas A&M $5 million
Les Miles LSU $4.3 million
Steve Spurrier South Carolina $4.0 million
Gus Malzahn Auburn $3.85 million
Bret Bielema Arkansas $3.2 million
Mark Richt Georgia $3.2 million
Gary Pinkel Missouri $3.1 million
Hugh Freeze Ole Miss $3.0 million
Will Muschamp Florida $3.0 million
Butch Jones Tennessee $3.0 million
Dan Mullen Mississippi State $2.65 million
Mark Stoops Kentucky $2.2 million
