7.5 million dollar buyout was likely for McIlwain's protection. Took over a dumpster fire program, if I recall correctly, and didn't want to get canned after 2 years of he was losing too many games.

Looked over the football coaches' contracts for a project in law school and the buyout structure was the same for both parties. May be pretty standard in the industry to do it that way.

But he does not get the 7.5 million from UF. CSU gets it for the right to hire him.

Agree. fsu's luck finally runs out this week. GT is two close losses from being 12-0. They're legit, imo. As much as I hate bama, I'm actually hoping fsu losses more than I am bama(can't believe I just said that ugh). Winston and Jimbo make me sick with everything JW has gotten away with.

Anyone else absolutely love seeing the front page of 247 CBJ arms crossed and it reads, "Butch Jones tells Michigan he's not interested"?

:eek:lol:

LOVE IT!

Tech's pretty banged up. I also think they're overrated. Not many good wins, several near misses.

FSU lives to fight another day.

So a buddy of mine who is a huge Vols fan was given 2 floor level tickets to Vandy vs Baylor. He asked me to go. I said only if we wear all orange.

Can't wait

You know, if FSU gets beat by GATech, and OSU loses to Wisconsin, would that mean TCU and Baylor are both in the top 4?

Could the Big 12 end up with two teams in the playoffs?

That is a huge suck, IMO. Any team that is involved in a game that the score ended up 61-58 should not be in consideration for the final four, whether you won or lost.

Going 10-2 in your third year at CSU is pretty legendary. Plus he was the OC at Bama for a while. Having family that are CSU fans, I can say he's the real deal. If Florida gets him, we should take notice.

He very well may end up a good coach because none of us know his reputation or work ethic or knowledge...kind of like Butch Jones. But the hire doesn't scare me.

Who was the poster who was around slot during the Gruden saga who owned a bar in Fort Collins? Maybe Jake? He said he had met McElwain. Interested to hear his thoughts.

Here's what a gator fan sent me in regards to my questions on how he felt about the Colorado coach

McElwain helped the Tide win two national championships (2009, 2011) with a potent and balanced pro-style offense. He coached a Heisman Trophy winner (tailback Mark Ingram) in 2009 and a Heisman finalist (tailback Trent Richardson) in 2011.

During his four seasons in Tuscaloosa, in which the Tide went 48-6, McElwain’s offense turned the ball over fewer times than any team in the nation — 57 over that span.

In 2011, McElwain’s offense led the SEC in rushing (219.8 yards a game) and was second in total offense (433.4 yards a game).

Florida certainly knows first-hand about McElwain’s offense. In the Tide’s 32-13 victory over the Gators and Tim Tebow in the 2009 SEC Championship Game, the Tide rolled up 490 yards (251 rushing, 239 passing) against one of the nation’s strongest defenses.

McElwain is a good coach but I thought Florida would make a bigger splash than that with so many people talk that job up as a top 5 job. A few mths ago on ESPN radio a guy said Florida was a top 15 job but not a top 5 and it started a on air argument. He went on to explain its because facilities are horrible compared to conpetition. The city isn't exactly a destination home. He also made an interesting observation that it's mich harder to win there than people think. spurrier and Urban are the only two coaches to be successful there in the past few decades and they are showing that they can win anywhere they go before Florida and after Florida.

I thought he was looney at time but dang maybe he is right and others in profession see tt that way.

Seeing Florida fans complain and complain about Muschamp trying to run a pro-style offense and then fake being happy and claiming McElwain is an offensive guru and that they love the potential of his pro style offense is hysterical to me.

Sounds like us when we hired Sal Sunseri.

Hope the results are the same.

This. Their ass holes are puckered and don't think they aren't. They just married and took a suicide pact with a dude off the Saban tree and the Saban tree is not known for rousing success stories as HC.

Florida just seems tailor made for the spread with their talent base. Bet Roper would have made a better hc than this dude. I'm not complaining one bit though.

... and look at how they've fallen apart since he's left. :whistling:

I'm not saying that there will never be a good coach from the Saban coaching tree, but if we've learned anything over the recent years, Saban.
