So what do you think the best and worst matchups would be for us in a bowl game this year? Here is mine:
Best: North Carolina. They are not a good at sacking and are really bad against the run
Worst: Louisville. Complete opposite of North Carolina. They are top 5 in sacks and run D

So is there any word/rumor as to what Hurd's injury was?

Some were saying concussion but I watched the hit several times and there didn't seem to be anything in the hit that affected his head.

It looked like he had a cut on his arm that the trainers were attending to when he was sitting on the bench. Not sure how that would keep him out of the game, though.

Yeah I noticed that too. Just hope it was nothing to his shoulder. Has Butch commented on it further? They kept him in pads and when he left the field after the game he seemed unencumbered. (I was standing above the tunnel they exited the field into)

Was there something said during the game about Hurd possibly having numbness in his arm? That would possibly keep him from returning to the game.

that 7.5 mill buyout is nuts. i have no idea what other people's buyouts are but i thought they were around 3-5 mill.

i would think a coach wouldnt contract that unless he was getting something big in return for it, like extension and raise, and was very happy where he was.

The silly season is upon us. Although that Bleacher's report is probably BS, it's interesting that this report that our coach turned down a Michigan job is viral now.

is this real? CBJ already turned them down?

WOW and only seemed to ask for staff raises. this guy. :good!:

"Multiple sources I spoke with told me Jim Harbaugh has already told Michigan that he is not a candidate. Sources tell us that Michigan has reached out to Butch Jones as well. Jones will not be a candidate at Michigan."

Michigan "struggling" to find their next head coach

Dooley got 5 million. Muschump is getting 6.3 million. 7.5 for the man IS crazy though. His resume IMO is nothing that should garner that kind of money. All you can do is applaud CSU for getting him to sign it. They more less have their next coaching staff paid for by UF for the next half decade. :)

Did some research.

With Dobbs at QB here are game stats. TOTAL is plays run, TRIPOPT is where Pig, Von or JJ come in motion with threat of handoff or actual receiving the ball.

Bama - TOTAL 383 yards on 79 plays = 4.84 yds/play
TRIPOPT 63 yards on 15 plays = 4.20 yds/play
TOTAL- TOPT 320 yards on 64 plays = 5 yds/play

SC - TOTAL 645 yards on 95 plays = 6.79 yds/play
TRIPOPT 208 yards on 25 plays = 8.32 yds/play
TOTAL- TOPT 437 yards on 70 plays = 6.24 yds/play

UK - TOTAL 511 yards on 80 plays = 6.39 yds/play
TRIPOPT 78 yards on 11 plays = 7.10 yds/play
TOTAL- TOPT 433 yards on 69 plays = 6.27 yds/play

MIZZ - TOTAL 279 yards on 67 plays = 4.16 yds/play
TRIPOPT 85 yards on 12 plays = 7.08 yds/play
TOTAL- TOPT 194 yards on 55 plays = 3.53 yds/play

Vandy TOTAL 262 yards on 65 plays = 4.03 yds/play
TRIPOPT 58 yards on 11 plays = 5.27 yds/play
TOTAL- TOPT 204 yards on 54 plays = 3.78 yds/play

TOTAL WITH DOBBS
TOTAL
2080 on 475 = 4.38 yds/play

TRIP OPT
492 on 74 = 6.65 yds/play

TOTAL - TIPOPT
1588 on 401 = 3.96 yds/play

Looks like the triple option is pretty beneficial for us.

Very nice post, especially it being your first. But, could I see that in a bar chart?

To the people saying Kiffin didn't want Braxton Miller... remember, he didn't want Bryce Petty or Tahj Boyd either. Just saying.

I believe his agent is Jimmy Sexton. For those that didn't see me post a few days ago, McIlwain nearly accepted the Memphis job. But there was a hangup, and Memphis offered Fuente.

Im sure this has been talked about, but who do y'all think will be the most improved players in 2015?

I think: 1. Jashon Robertson- This guy wasn't an EE, switched positions, and was next to another true freshman for a lot of the year. I think that if we are able to move Kerbyson to RT and Jason having his first year in a strength and conditioning program to mainly work on his feet he'll be a monster. Coming out I saw several scouts say he'd make a beast G but probably needed to RS because of the position change.

2. Emmanuel Moseley- obviously a very athletic guy who also changed positions when he got here. He seemed ok in coverage until he was forced to guard a bigger WR, but thats cause he's maybe 170lbs. I think he'll come into next season above 180 and will be a very good #2 CB for us.

3. Dontavius Blair- I truly believe that the coaches wouldn't of RS him if they didn't think he would help us significantly. Blair is a guy that came in with a lot of bad weight, which stinks cause he's a juco, but I think Dave Lawsons specialty isn't necessarily adding on massive amounts of weight and muscle to players like the last guy. I think Lawson knows how to take a guy like Blair and take that 6-8 310lbs and change it, by losing maybe 5-10lbs and changing a lot of that bad weight into muscle so blair can move on blocks. I don't think blair will start next year, but he will have to play, and will be better than this past year so the coaches will trust him.

1. Bates - Will know the system better.
2. Scott - Will get healthy
3. Malone - Hasnt been fighting for balls thrown his way

nah those are diff figures. buyout meaning what a school would have to pay another school to hire their head coach. i guess the terms are used interchangeably? but thats what i meant by "buyout"

i saw hugh freeze had a buyout of 225k (before new raise/extension) charlie strong's buyout was 4.3 mil at louisville but i bet thats after his extension he signed when he turned down tennessee. nick saban's contract at alabama reportedly does not contain a buyout....but thats something he contracted to after he got the raise/extension during the texas offer.

when a school fires a head coach they pay whats left on their contract which just varies. thats how dooley got 6.5. thats what was left on his contract. unfortunately no one was really hoping to snatch dooley up and pay tennessee to let him go.

Schools get to deduct from that whatever the other job ultimately pays them in many cases. So we pay for example Dooley the difference of his HC salary and his Dallas salary.
