Kippy Brown to Duke??

Would this guy actually go to Duke over UT? He has ties with us. If he chooses Duke over UT we will become the new recruiting laughing stock.

I wonder was Fulmer shocked by Cutcliffe's departure? Did Cutcliffe inform him, or was Fulmer "played" by Cut. The plot thickens.

This was actually discussed yesterday. It seemed out in the open ... and not something controversial. It sounded then like Phil and Cut were both going to extend offers.

They've been co-workers and friends for how long? I'm sure CPF was shocked by Cut's move to Duke.

If Kippy Brown happens to chose Duke over UT...In my mind that would explain ALOT about why Cutcliffe left...As I said before (and got chastized for it) I think Cutcliffe had some serious issues behind the scenes with Fulmer about Fulmer not letting Cutcliffe have more control over the offense...That would also tell me Cutcliffe views this as a sinking ship and talked about that to Brown as to why "brown" wouldnt want to go to Tennessee over Duke.....It has been know around the NCAA Football world that FUlmer doesnt let his OC's do their thing...

Then there are those that say the 1.3 million is why Cutcliffe left...Thats hard to argue with agreeably so...But there is more to this than we realize....Read some of cutcliffes remarks to the DUke media...He basically was talking about FUlmer and how when we would lose Fulmer would just chalk it up to we will have to go back and look at it kind of thing rather than coach with intensity from the get go...

Cutcliffe had his way with offense. Randy Sanders is the guy that was restricted. Look at how different things got as soon as Cutcliffe got here. Do you think that was because Fulmer meddled? Fulmer has always trusted Cutcliffe. He didn't completely trust Randy to run the show. Hopefully, he'll have faith in the next guy.

I respectfully disagree with that...Why? Because with the exception of adding in the quick out type stuff and the screen pass on 3rd and long...we looked exactly the same as we did when Sanders was here...we just threw deep less..We still run the same running plays and make the same stupid class on 3rd and long....we run to set up the punt etc....I could be totally wrong..Im just stating my opinion and basing it on how FUlmer has been in the past....

Just as a small example, we ran a no huddle, h-back sets, bunch sets, and very few crossing patterns.

Randy primarily ran with a huddle, full back sets, flankers, and lots of crossing patterns.

I have to agree with General Neyland.....Cut was on a string, and it was jerked early in most games.....you could see the effects by the play calling change after we went up early (with some creative QB roll out passes I might add).....it seems he was forced to turn the play page and run 1) Pound the Rock or 2) 1-3 yd Sideline Pass, WRs to locate daylight.

We will see evidence of this next yeat at Duke.....no strings attached, he may not win many games, but we will see Cut's offense in action.

Kippy has a son that lives in Knoxville...he wants to get closer to him which would mean Knoxville, not Durham. Plus we could prob bring more money to the table I presume.

Sanders wanted to throw the ball 60-70% of the time. He never did that, even in 2003 when we had a good senior QB and terrible running game. Fulmer wouldn't let him. Cutcliffe did that stuff all the time when he returned to Knoxville.

You might want to elaborate a little ....If I understand you correctly it sounds like you are saying that Cutcliffe threw the ball more when he came back to knoxville...? That may be so...however I dont consider 3yrd outs and 5yrd over the middle throwing the ball....Go back and watch highlites of the 98 season...that is throwing the ball "all the time"....as well as some darn good running....It make ssense that SAnders wanted to throw the ball all the time...Sanders was a QB....but someone in the mix at that time seemed to always run left, run right, pass on 3rd and 10 then punt....game after game after game....the good senior QB would have been Rick Clausen...who we all know couldnt throw the ball more than 15 yrds.....

I was just thinking the exact same thing..
If I were Cutcliffe and I wanted Kippy Brown, that's sure as hell what I would tell him.

There is not that big of difference in the stats. We were still a middle of the road offense under both... is there a common thread? and forget the hogwash that cut brought discipline to to the team...Sanders was quoted after he left as saying his laws were undermined so perhaps the only difference was that CPF backed Cut more than Randy.

Cut definitely improved the onfield discipline. There were a lot fewer dumb penalties under him. So that was helpful. Cut passed the ball a lot more, so folks tended to think our offense was much better. I don't think it really was.
