Will they still come to UT. I know Troop recruited Wilks a lot. A few in home visits and some games as well (not that Troop is leaving).

I think if Trooper leaves, we might lose a few already commited and probably almost all of the ones we were pursuing.

I don't know how we even had enough players to field a team before Trooper got here.

Fulmer is a better recruiter than Trooper will ever dream of being. We'll be fine. This year's class isn't going to be as flashy as last year's, but we'll get the guys we need.

Trooper is a good recruiter. Not a rodney garner but good still. I say if troop leaves we throw a mountain of cash at rodney in hopes of having him return to knoxvegas.

I'm loving this optimism. You must have some insider stuff. What gives?

It's just the truth. A lot of recruits like Troop and he convinces a lot of them to take a visit and Fulmer seals the deal. No one is going to pick a school just because they think the WR coach is cool. We would be just fine without Troop.

Not really. We don't have that many scholarships and we aren't going after a ton of RBs and WRs, the guys that usually boost your recruiting class to a high ranking. We'll get some good linemen and linebackers. I'm not worried about recruiting.

Pryor will go somewhere else. This recruiting class is hurting for a big name prospect

So, what is your main beef with Fulmer (e.g. "ride of Fulmer")?

He's not getting acceptable results and he's not making changes to get better results. He's had chances to save the team. He could have taken care of Randy Sanders differently, at an earlier time, and he could have hired someone other than Cutcliffe.

This is tennessee recruiting, an amazing class one year than two or three straight down years. '02, '05 and '07 as you know were great, but we are not consistent every year.

Do you mean getting rid of Sanders, promoting him earlier, explaining to CRS that he was really just a QB coach, or what?

Cut has got our O back on track. If we get a good OC, that trend should continue.

good observation of something that is not always obvious but more or less which is the case this year for this recruitting class

The best option would have been to maybe let him be the interim OC (for the Fiesta Bowl) and then just go hire someone else. Fulmer admitted that in 2004 he was planning on making a change after the season, but then the offense looked so good that year he changed his mind. I would have preferred Randy get better treatment than he did.

Yep. OC at UT is a big time job that he just wasn't ready to do. In the end, he got screwed for being promoted too soon, but I'm glad to see him recovering his career at UK. I hope he forgives UT for that screw up.

Sanders was not that bad....Clausen caused much of what was his demise by whinning....I cannot believe the staff and CPF succumbed to that but we did...Sanders fell into the mode of Cut I am not sure who call the NC Game but I am sure it was Sanders with a loaded gun...He was also a very persistent recruiter that pursued talent....

Sounds like the kind of guy we could use now.

QB coach at UT is still better than QB coach at UK. Is that what you guys are thinking? Or, I guess that all depends on who you're thinking as OC? What's Sanders relationship with Trooper or other potential candidates? Or, are you thinking Sanders as OC again?

No more retreads please. Especially not randy sanders.

Does that mean we should only consider OC's without experience at the SEC level or promoting lower-level assistants or what?

There's a lot of retreading in football coaching careers.

Which Clausen are you referring to? The one that is second on most every passing record or the one that rightfully beat out superstar wannabe Ainge?

I hear that a lot, but Clausen wasn't Mr Consistent either. He would've loved this year's team cause they don't throw more than 5 yards down the field. I always used to say if you could combine them you'd have the perfect qb. He had the brains but not the skills., plus overall he always did better coming off the bench for whatever reason. The way it was handled was screwy, but he had every chance like Ainge did, they were just trying to make them both happy, and neither stepped up.
