Don't believe in this philosophy...but in this case I'd suspend belief.![]()
Cecil made his spot available when he began taking visits back a month or so ago. That's the nature of the beast. Hope things work out for him. Seems to me like whenever Cecil decides to flip or decommit, a Kirkland commit will happen shortly thereafter. Or if Kirkland wants to commit and shut things down when he visits, I'm sure the coaches would then let Cecil know rather quickly they have moved on and cannot wait around for him to decide. I'm thinking Kirkland has already told the coaches he plans to commit and just wants to make the visit with his parents one last time to make sure he's ready to make it official and shut things down. Jmo...
But it could be just the opposite. Cecil could have entertained visits, after being committed all this time and the staff might have jumped on the next best prospect, who....looky there...decommitted from Mich. Who knows? I think it's best to hold off making assumptions based on scant information. Especially since we haven't had a chance to see Senior highlight reels or updated service rankings, yet.The coaches pushed Cecil to take visits, IMO, whether people want to admit it or not. Just look at the timeline...Kirkland contacts the coaches about 1.5 months ago and tells them about his situation to gauge interest with the Vols; coaches say let us see where we are at and we will get back to you; shortly after, Cecil is visiting Texas and Kirkland is setting up his OV to Rocky Top. It's recruiting...it's a business and the nature of the beast. We have been on the flip side of this numerous times.
Yeah...when a player has been committed as long as he has, then suddenly decides to take visits a few months out....it's time to make alternate plans. If it's a guy who has stated all along that he's going to take a number of visits before deciding, that's a different situation. It certainly doesn't sound that way from what has been reported on all the sites. His spot became available when he decided on his own to start visiting other schools. His own fault.

It's kind of like getting engaged and a month before the wedding, your fiance wants to start dating (other guys), just to make sure she's making the right decision. Not good. Not good at all.
A lot harder to take over the game at CB than at FS. They can just not throw to your side as a CB. FS can be moved all over the field, they can play back in pass coverage, or come down in run support or to rush the QB. Not a fair comparison at all imo. They're both great players, not sure why we have to argue over which one is better at their position or how you even go about proving that one way or the other.
