'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Serious question. Who wouldn't want to play opposite Barnett with Mckenzie and Tuttle in between. Neither Ole Miss or LSU offer you that. He'll hardly ever see a double team here.

You'd be crazy not to wanna play on the DL or behind them on this defense. This defense has me all kinds of excited

They won't be able to double team every one on the DL next year. McKenzie will get doubled on almost every snap and Tuttle will likely get the same. Our defensive future us looking very bright.

I usually stay out of this type of talk, but WTF would you want to go to Ole Miss outside the woman on campus? They have peaked. It's like people wanting to go to Miss. St right now. Why? It's all down hill from here. Ole Miss and Miss St. will never be able to compete with Bama, LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M on a regular bases.

I'm not trying to be a homer, but there's no SEC school that can say they have better facilities than us. UT girls are fun to be around. Campus life is fun. 100,000 people show up to the game even when you've gone 5-7 the last 3 years. Please, show me who has a better fan base? At this point, considering the way this staff recruits, if you don't want to get on the train then you are hurting yourself. Phillips, Taylor, Walker, etc have a fast track to easy sacks and QB pressure simply by walking onto the field. KMac, Shy, and DB are going to get all the attention. It's a no brainer. If you were good enough, and the guys I just listed are, then there would be no excuses to not have 10 sacks by years end when playing beside KMac, etc. Playing beside KMac, DB, and Shy will be like playing with Manning, they are going to make everyone around them way better, and because of it, everyone around them will receive benefits they aren't really worth. You think Decker is worth all that money? Do you really think Sanders is a great WR? He@@ no, it's all Manning. DB, KMac, and Shy will make guys like Phillips look like all-SEC first team DEs.

I think you're right that this will happen eventually for McKenzie and Tuttle but I think it will likely be their sophomore years before they become that level of players. We all need to remember that DT, like the OL positions, is really hard for true freshmen to play at an impact level in the SEC, even excellent players, unless a player is a once in a decade type player. I think it is possible that both McKenzie and Tuttle could be instant impact players/once in a decade type players but it wouldn't surprise me if they are solid, All-SEC Freshmen team type players but aren't doubleteamed each snap. '16 and '17, however, I think they'll be fierce, All-American type, commanding double teams each snap players.

Barnett is a great player.. he is our best DL and it's not even close

I was looking at Barnett yesterday he is a man child, by the time he is a junior, with K-MAC and KING TUT in the middle he will be unstoppable and first team AA and future top 15 pick in the draft, he is a BEAST now, what will he be in 2016, what words do you use after Beast, he will be that good.:lolabove:

Barnett is a insane talent.

He is in the build of bigger DE like Reggie White and Michael Strahan.

I believe he has future 1st round potential and future top 10 pick potential.

I love the kids motor and he is in good enough shape that he basically plays every play. Thats incredible.

He's really good. We will have an awesome line once Hendrix comes around. Have two DE's with that size and speed would be huge.

Barnett is an absolute stud..plain and simple. He already has 9 sacks this year and Clowney, who was supposedly the best DE prospect in years (and who was also playing on a defensive like with multiple NFL draft picks), had 8 in his freshman season. Barnett will almost assuredly end up with double digit sacks this year which is just crazy for a true freshman in the SEC. The guy is already a beast, can't wait to see how he progresses over the next couple of years. He's got 1st round potential with out a doubt.

Hendrix is going to surprise a lot of people who forgot about him next year. Like most fresham he needed a year to develop but he will be ready next year and he's going to turn some heads. I've heard people think he's going to be very good. He's supposedly a little more athletic than Barnett but just didn't have as good of a feel for the game as Derek did as a freshman. Those two are going to be a nightmare for QBs coming off the edges together.

Taylor and Phillips will play different positions so I don't see the relation. Maybe you're right though

I was looking at it as a best DE available kind of thing. Of course if the UT staff views Phillips as a possible OT like some mentioned earlier, obviously one would have nothing to do with the other.
