SEC Coaches=Crazy Good

So how many of those coaches would you rather have over Fulmer?

Here's who I personally would rather have over Fulmer, I think there's at least seven coaches in this league that is flat-out better than CPF:

1-Meyer
2-Saban
3-Petrino
4-Spurrier

The above four anyday of the week and the below the three I give a small notch over Phil.

5-Tuberville (better head-to-head record, solid recruiter, develops talent and will make changes if things aren't working unlike CPF)
6-Richt (better head-to-head record and better x and o guy)
7-Miles (believe it or not, great recruiter, not a great gameday coach but CPF isn't either, Miles at least will gamble unlike CPF, Miles by mid-season this year has faked more fg's and punts than Phil in 15 years plus in the Auburn game alone Miles went for it on 4th down more than Phil has in ten seasons. I'd take Miles over Fulmer.

I'd prefer Phil over the other four coaches in the league.

I'd put Tuberville over Petrino, but I wouldn't want either of them over Phil. I look at Spurrier a lot like Phil, old and tired.

The rest I agree with.

I still won't believe Miles will stay at LSU until I see the ink dry on a new coach at Michigan. Say, LSU wins the whole thing, Miles bolts to Michigan and Petrino slides in at LSU...back to looking again in Fayetteville.

Went back and checked and its actually 2 SEC Championship appearances in 6 years. So not bad for Arkansas.

You dont want Petrino over Fulmer, trust me. Petrino does not deserve to be anywhere near the top of the list of SEC coaches. His hire might be proff UT could get a "big name" coach but that is all he is. All fluff. No substance.

Petrino is one of my favorite college coaches. He will light up the Score Board. I wont look forward to future games with Arky. But then again we get to see if he can consistently compete with the Big Boys of the SEC. Got a feeling he will. If he gets a Good DC watch out.

For one thing, he want be at Arky long enough to see anything. You actually think he is going to be happy at a middle of the road school. Two years from now, he will be somewhere else, just his nature.

2 SEC title game appearances in the last 6 years for Arkansas. That's a pretty good record for a coach at Arkansas. I thought Nutt did a pretty good job while he was there. Arkansas isn't LSU, Auburn, Georgia, or Florida.

But he wasn't only there for 6 years. He was there for 10. 2 in 10 years isn't better than average.

why you bustin nutt's chops?

2 SECCG appearances in the last six years is pretty good. I the 4 years before that, he did a pretty good job rebuilding a team that was left for dead.

Can't happen. Petrino's contract does not allow a buyout for any SEC West teams.

Somebody has to finish 2nd-6th in each division. It's going to be interesting which fan base impodes first when considering wins vs. cost.

UAT?
UM?
UAF?
LSU?
AU?
MSU? (although the coach of the year in SEC is the lowest paid in the whole league)

Great post! I'd like to see UF on the list as well especially considering the implosive nature of that fan base. The jury will be out on CUM if he has yet another 3 SEC loss season next year.

They will probably be happy with:
2006: National Champions
2007: Heisman trohpy winner
2008: win SEC and 2nd Heisman for TT
2009: National Champions

Although wee're joking about this, the sad thing is that this is a realistic expectation for the Gators.

2005: lost 3 SEC games
2006: Zook's players rise to the challenge after squeeking out a 1-point win against UT
2007: lost 3 SEC games
2008: see 2007
2009: see 2007
2010: Gator fans realize Ron Zook wasn't so bad after all.

I just don't get the anger for Petrino. He was great for the 'Ville but everyone knew he was not going ot be there for ever. He was badly hamstrung at ATL with the Vick situation and he got out while he could. Before he went to ATL alot of UTK fans were hoping he'd be in K-town after the 2005 meltdown. I just don't understand the sudden hatred, other than the Hogs having him.

The Gators might lose to UGA next year. Other than that I don't see anyone really dangerous on their conference schedule since LSU will be in a bit of a rebuiliding posture.

It's the way he handled it. He quit before even finishing one season to take the next best opportunity he could fine. That's not the mark of a leader for a team sport. He'll do the same again.

But he will ask his players for committment and self-sacrafice in the interest of what's best for the team. But, simply put, the team's interests and his interests are not the same. He's looking out for #1 and that's it.

Saban is the right comparison, but even he tried. Basically, the choice for recruits is whether they want to play for a liar or a quitter.

That can't be good for a program no matter how well somebody draws X's and O's.

People who go down with the ship when they don't have to are fools and not a good example for the youth of America.

Now, you're a phiolosopher and a statesman. No real threat to Plato or Al Gore.

Your point in supporting the likes of Saban and Petrino is that quitters and selfish people are the role models our youth needs. You are taking a very isolated position and using a personal attack (fools) as support. Dude, that's just wrong.

God forbid any American child adopt the long-held naval adage that the captain should go down with the ship. You contend that we need more quitters and more self-servers to make this country better.

You and I are fundamentally different in our core beliefs. Teach your kids whatever you'd like, but I do hope you're not teaching any others this value system you hold in such high esteem.

One of Arkansas trip to the SECCG was due to Alabama being on probation.

HDN win total for the 2004 and 2005 = 9. Yes 9 wins in two years. If that happened in Knoxville there would a riot.
