There is still no excuse for the delay of game penalty with 9 seconds left. That was pure indecisiveness. They weren't sure if they could trust their freshman kicker from 42 yards out or not but then lined up to try from 47 yards out before that last play. That was a complete mess.

You don't take that chance with 9 seconds at LSU and national title implications on the line... No timeouts...You take the better odds of making the FG.

That's what he was trying to do. Throw to the flat and run out of bounds if it was wide open, or throw it out of bounds on the left sideline. All Freeze was trying to do was set up a better field goal. Bo took it upon himself to take a shot at the end zone.

Well he's already out there at that point for the 47 harder. You're not going to risk another delay of game trying to send the offense back out there. If Les hadn't called the TO to ice the kicker then Ole Miss would've never taken a chance of running one more play.

IMO, the bigger mistake was being indecisive and taking the delay of game. That is why Freeze thought he might try to get a few more yards because 47 was tough for his true freshman kicker. He had made a 46 yarder during the year, but if you remember, he came up short from about 52 against us at the end of the first half.
