I don't think we're that far away either and I think we'll be vastly improved. I think it takes more than one year to fix our line problems and I think our schedule is still too difficult to make a significant jump in the win column. I'm not disparaged by the pace of this rebuild either. I thought it was at least a four year, maybe five year project.

Yep. Due to CBJ and staff recruiting on such a high level, I believe we have shaved a year or so off the total time it will take to get back. OL will still be shaky next year but that will be the last year of our OL whoas. By the time the 2016 recruiting class gets on campus we should be ready to compete with anyone in the league. GBO!

I agree with you guys, the coaches made some dumb decisions. especially on defense to start the game. We wound up in too big of a hole for our offense to climb out of.

But why do our young players get a pass for making mistakes but not our coaches? (Sure, our coaches are being paid, they coached elsewhere, etc.) But IMO most of our coaching staff, including CBJ, are only "sophomores" in the SEC & they it's obvious that they are making mistakes.

Hopefully they are intelligent enough to learn from their mistakes & will perform better when they are "upperclassmen" in 2015 & 2016. I for one am willing to cut them some slack until then. Go Vols!

I think you answered your own question, this is the SEC and we are a premiere school in the league so we shouldn't be hiring a coach that gets passes.

The only reason this coaching staff should be getting passes is because of personnel, not because of coaching decisions.

Coaches made the best calls to help us win. Do you really think that they'd call plays that weren't the best for us? I don't understand you people who think you can do a better job than D1 coaches.

/sarcasm

I agree, D game plan was weird. Jancek has been solid this year, but I think he goofed on this one. Crazy that only 2 WR caught balls and we changed our game plan to keep one guy from killing us.

All of this plus his decision making on the zone read was quick. The reads with Worley seem to take an eternity. Dobbs reads and then boom, he's off to the races. Very impressed with what Dobbs showed last night.

Agreed.

After last night's performance there is no way Butch can give the ball back to Worley. Is there barring injury?

I think it's becoming pretty clear that Worley is a really good back up QB. Hope he is healthy enough to back up Dobbs if he gets banged up running all over the place.

Also, Dobbs had zip on his throws. Was very impressed with that as well.

Kind of what I thought, too. I'm not sure what the radar gun would say, and it may have been pure adrenaline (if he has any), but Dobbs' passes just seemed to be a tighter spiral and to arrive a bit quicker.

I'll say this, there was a point in the 2nd half where I thought we had a chance for the comeback. After getting punched in the mouth early and being down 27-0, that is really impressive. Despite some of the coaching decisions we have questioned, one thing you can't take away is how they have ingrained in them the will to keep fighting till the end. That is something we haven't seen in a while.

Reminds me a little of the 1998 team.

Not to be that guy, but I did notice quite a few odd ball spots last night during the game. I figured a few of them would be reviewed, because they were big plays in the game. One was the dive for the first down by the Bama qb, he looked like he put his arm down almost two yards short of where they marked the ball and no hint of a review.

CBJ was not happy with officiating last night. He called them out on the post game show. He said there were several times bammer broke the huddle with 10 men and ran 1 on and it should have been called a delay of game. I'll have to catch the replay and see.

Saban's comment about Tennessee fans being mad because he left us and we know he's a good coach couldn't be more wrong.

We were mad at how he left.

That's behind us now. I feel like last night we kinda moved on. FINALLY (me included)

I remember Saban's comments after we fired Dooley. He thought we made a mistake because he felt that Dooley was a great coach for us. Imagine that.

I would just like to point out I've been driving the Dobbs bandwagon for a long time. :)

If he was going to play, though, I have no idea why he didn't start.

I agree. We have several posters that could take a good class 3-A Tennessee high school team and beat anyone they play in the SEC. They are wasting their lives working mediocre jobs making only $80,000 to $100,000 per year when they could go into coaching and make $3-5 million per year. I don't understand their reasoning.
:)

I'm getting tired of wiping my ass with hunnert dollar bills...are the ones with McKinley softer?...since they're old and they don't make them anymore? :w00t:
