I am just not sure it is about the money with Freeze. But, we will wait and see. Sure, you want to challenge yourself at a Top 20 job, but he was born in Oxford and raised in Senatobia. He has roots there and has friends and connections in northern MS and even Memphis. If he leaves, those relationships back home will be different. With the conference money, OM can pay at least 3.5-4.0, and he will basically be a hero at OM. The money won't be that much more at another school, especially if you don't meet expectations and are in the pressure cooker. JMO.
Except that Foley (you know the guy doing the coaching search) doesn't want Mullen supposedly. If anyone jumps it'll be Mullen to UF. Freeze is getting quality players without a problem, bs doesn't have to go far to do it. He loves Ole Miss and has resurrected that program in only a few years. He won't leave his guys, whereas Mullen basically loses his entire offense and defense, especially if Prescott leaves early.
The writing is on the wall. Mullen to UF (also giving the fan base who they want).
You mean he might have to retire in Florida instead of Mississippi? Who would ever think to do that? LOL!
I'm just messing with you. I don't care what he does. I don't consider Ole Miss a long term threat regardless of who their coach is. I actually hope Florida keeps Muschamp. I just think this belief that Freeze wouldn't leave for anything hasn't been put to the test yet.
1. UF hires Bob Stoops
2. Michigan hires Les Miles
3. LSU hires Hugh Freeze
4. Oklahoma hires Art Briles
5. Baylor hires Chad Morris
6. Ole Miss hires Mark Stoops
7. Kentucky gives up football

Bob Stoops is having way too much fun beating up on unmotivated and young SEC teams and proclaiming the SEC weak to jump over to the dark side.
The VQ guys keep saying this is an uphill battle with Richmond because of
a. distance from home
b. Ole Miss influence around him
Know what they never say? Ole Miss is Drew's choice. Pretty clear that someone other than Drew is calling the shots in his recruitment. Whether that is his mother or someone else I don't know.
It's pretty clear here what we have to do. 1. Get some UT influence around him 2. Win over mother and convince her distance shouldnt be the top priority.
The only thing that bothers me about that is how many times he has made the 5 hr 45 minute drive(that's what it takes me with one stop for gas in Cookeville) over the last few months and he is apparently doing it again this weekend. For them to make such a big deal out of that drive, he sure makes it a lot (and on his own dime).
I think (b) has to be the real reason here.
When has Mullen given any indication he likes UF? Also he just signed an extension through 2018. UF has as much of a chance of landing Mullen as Texas did Saban, zero.
I'm not a Finebaum leg-humper, but he touched on this idea today in regards to Michigan coming after Butch. The best point he made was 'why would Butch Jones bring in back-to-back top 5 ranked recruiting classes in the most elite league in college football at a school with facilities that only 4 or 5 others schools can match and then leave before he does anything with them'.
Freeze isn't going to leave Ole Miss after this season. People need to just drop that one.
I agree. If anyone is a man of his word its Hugh Freeze. Not to mention, he is a Mississippi boy. He isn't leaving Oxford. Look for Coach Mark Hudspeth from UL Lafayette to be a strong candidate for the FLA HCing job.
