I hear what you are saying. Its the trust the process meme. But we really haven't seen a down hill running game called. It might be stuffed. But we don't know. Certain speculation about what one thinks wont work is one thing, trying something different another.

I think their general concept of running is the zone blocking where the runner is looking for the hole as the play develops. It can still be a power downhill running attack. That's what the Packers run with Eddie Lacy. Hurd can be that power runner too at 230 lbs. we already see him running through arm tackles. Right now though our OL does not open holes consistently so most of the time the RB has nowhere to go. Hurd does a great job at making something out of usually nothing. Just wait til we have people actually opening holes for him. He will be getting to the second and third level a lot. Hundred yard games will be the norm.

Just read this and was amazed:

The third-ranked Rebels punted eight consecutive times (including six 3-and-outs) to start the game against the Vols.

If the clock on Jones and Jancek starts in March 2013 with their first Tennessee practice, then the turnaround that they completed on a defense that was historically bad as recently as November 2012 is nothing short of miraculous.

In terms of on the field coaching and recruiting, that's a 17-month turnaround from atrocious to one of the best in the SEC.

And we converted it into a whopping three points. Lol. That was hard to watch. D was killing it and we were going absolutely nowhere.

I might be in the minority here, but I think Dobbs will turn out to be a pretty good QB for us. At least Dobbs will be able to use his feet to break the pressure from the opposing D when necessary. That being said, the OL will be somewhat improved, maybe not perfect, but serviceable.

I hope so as well. If not, it definitely will not be for a lack of effort on his part. It just seems like the ones who turn out to be really good show themselves sooner rather than later, like the Fr QB for Clemson. As far as the OL, one can only hope that they will be better with another year of weights and playing together.

Yeah, some show their talents early in their career and others may take a little longer but that doesn't mean that they're not gonna be a good player. Just depends on the player. As for the OL, I agree with you. My thinking is they get more experience playing together and another year in the weight room, then surely they will improve.

The D was playing championship level D. Just had no support.

Who would have thought we would be saying that? Especially with the D Jancek put on the field last year. I honestly never thought Jancek would be worth a flip.

Boy am I ever happy to look like an idiot :)

I appreciate the forwarding comment. My post simply reflects my bargaining, as a fan that wants optimal results, to maintain what appears to be denial of the fact that so many of you want to acknowledge, that the offense is at a basic developmental level limiting its effectiveness. Surely I say to myself there must be some bargain that can be struck to score against Bama, even beat Bama. What a great opportunity was lost down in Oxford town by poor offensive play, specifically the inability to score. My patience is wearing thin and my frustration is evident. All I want is a sign! :search:

For those fans that may be too young to remember, our D is starting to look like the D's of the 90's-early 2000's. It's not quite there but it's getting close. We just had an O to compliment it back then.

Hopefully that will pan out as well.

Hate to beat that dead horse, but some people just do not realize that huge hole Dooley put us in by not recruiting one OL in 2012. Hence why I will continue being 'p-word'. :)
