'15 VA OL Matthew Burrell

Dobbs didn't do anything against any team not named Kentucky. Dobbs is tailored for this offense too, while Worley seems to refuse to keep the ball no matter the occasion. Worley has done more with less of a skill set. What Worley can do is make the proper checks and command the offense and make throws Dobbs can't. Unfortunately I think Peyton is a better running QB.

For the love of the deer lord if he would keep the ball 3 times a game to keep the defense honest we would be ok.

Exactly. But he gets the deer in head lights look when he has the chance to pull it and make 5 yards and fall down.

Which is why the O has needed to be modified for the last and this season until the right QB is recruited and ready. Why ask the only competent QB you have to do things he doesn't want or know how to do, when he is good at other things. Modify the scheme and in so doing you simplify the line assignments. Ease into your desired scheme over time since your line is young and inexperienced. Based on Butch's comments today and his past actions, that is not what he is willing to do. So no wonder fans are upset. Winning takes back seat to process.

Exactly, if he will not keep it a 4-5 times a game, we should do some play action instead imo.

That may be true, but it's an entirely different scenario when the OL is already set in stone, with upperclassmen firmly entrenched like you would see in most programs.

It's how Juan James was able to come in as a True Freshman and play well at RT. He didn't have an established starter ahead of him. I don't think there will be an entrenched starter on this OL in the Spring. So, if a true freshman can come in as an EE and show off, then they have a decent chance to play sooner than they would otherwise.

I think ZACH STEWART is going to be one of those, whom the staff really likes. He's already SEC-level in size.

How can you say that when you haven't watched every single A game ever played? #uninformed.

Good grief, dude. What is your problem? He's like 6'5" 320lbs and a slender 320, at that. I say that based on his one on one battles at camp, against some big names. Boulware was at the same camp and did well, too.

He tweeted he loved his visit with pics, do you guys think KMac being there and in his ear can swing this guy to the good guys? I sure hope so, looks like he enjoyed his time.

I think he saw we are a good OL away from being really good and he sees an opportunity. Jmo, but I think we are serious contenders here. My question is, can he play OT at an elite level? I think we are set at guard.

Dobbs is the future or at least I hope for the program's sake. His biggest problem was hesitation and throwing the ball late. Once he gets time and matures I think he's going to be the guy that takes us to that next level. He's by far the most athletic QB we have and only Kendall rivals him IMO. Just a tad of confidence and stop overthinking and he will be great.

As far as Burrell I still think he's going elsewhere but will eat a bit of crow since he did actually show up.

I understand there are desirable traits for each position of the OLine, but I think we, as a fanbase, need to stop worrying about where out recruits will play at the next level. CBJ and Crew are looking for athletes that can play all of the positions. They want guys who are maybe not as big are we are used to. Most of our targets are around 6'3"-6'5" and weight anywhere between 275-300. They want speed. Not as worried about size. They know what we need. Just enjoy the ride. Afterall, it's just football.

Chill Brosephus...check carbonvol's contributions on Zach's thread for reference.

Glichtenwalter doesn't consider him a "serious target," but I think Burrell is a Vol. He appears to be a bit of a free spirit, but he fits right in here. He and Kahlil respect each other from the Nike Camp and have a great friendship going. He could see for himself our offensive line needs help. Burrell is hooked. The coaching staff will reel him in.

Hubbs' response to how UT came away from the UF loss still crushing recruiting:

"Jones and his staff do a great job and I'm not taking anything away from him and his staff, but prospects see playing time, a great atmosphere and a fun time.

I thought in 1996 that the loss to Florida would end Tennessee's recruiting class before it ever got started. In attendance that day, Travis Stephens, Jamal Lewis, Fred Weary, Cosey Coleman, Deon Grant and some others."

I think your statement is really unfair. Robertson is playing at the position, OG, where he was projected. And has not performed that badly. He's getting better with each game. Thomas is a center and was recruited to be the future center or guard. The physical skills needed for tackle are much different than for center or guard. He is struggling for good reason. Kerbyson was projected to be a guard and is now playing tackle. He has also had his troubles. All I ask is that we are fair in our assessments. Especially when it comes to the 17 year olds. Next year's OL could also have 17 year old freshmen starters, possibly at both tackle positions.

I never said they were bad players, I just said it hasn't worked well starting them as freshmen in the SEC which is true. I have full faith that they'll develop into great linemen for us but, it would serve them much better to be seasoned before being thrown into the trenches in this league. I understand that some, Kerbyson/Thomas, are playing out of position by necessity. Again, this isn't an indication on their future as players and I know we have to start them out of necessity but that still doesn't make it ideal. That was my point. Starting freshmen OL (Burrell next year) isn't ideal.

Players haven't been TN fans the past decade so its not devastating loss in their minds. As long as they see a competitive game is all that matters and most of the time they are just watching their position and see how the can help.

If a prospect wasn't impressed with that atmosphere then there is something wrong with them. The crowd was amazing at least on TV. It was loud and rocking and the checker Neyland was fantastic
