'15 TN OT Drew Richmond (Former Ole Miss commit)

He has been visiting Ole Miss often, not UT.
Anything other than OM would shock me. Don't know what Freeze is selling down there but he has elevated OM recruiting.

Fortenberry said Richmond will OV for a game this season and probably also take a UOV to UT again.

If he does commit to Ole Miss, its nowhere near being over. It goes without saying, since Butch has been here, Drew may be the single most important recruit for UT.

1a. Richmond
1b. Hurd

He would solidify an already very solid OL class.

McKenzie was more important than Richmond...you could say he is the most important recruit that we didn't have a big lead for.

I agree that McKenzie is a super important get. However, I believe Drew tops him for a few reasons.

1. Have you watched our OL? It's ugly. We need true tackles, badly.

2. He's an instate kid, and more specifically, a Memphis product. I feel like if we landed DR, it would open a few more doors over there.

JMO.

little bit out of the loop recently but why all of a sudden does everyone believe he is OM bound? any direct quotes? this kid loves tennessee and has close homies on the squad. tennessee is in great shape IMO.

247 and VQ not confident at all ever since the Ole Miss visit. They may have won the battle, but they haven't won the war.

I have to disagree because I believe McKenzie is a future 1st round draft pick. I can't say that for sure about Richmond.

Yes I realize you can't know that about either one at this point, but I'm sticking with the argument.

The 247 Crystal ball is comprised of recruiting analysts and beat writers. 9 of the last 11 have picked him to OM. It's an in exact science but those guys hear rumblings. His family is 1/4 if the way closer to Oxford when compared to Knoxville. I think that has a lot to do with it.

We have been just as bad at DT and for the most part I would say DT is a harder position to recruit to. You don't find OT's as good as Richmond on every street corner but when we have a shot at DT's as good as McKenzie and Tuttle we must get them. Richmond hurts but he's not going to break us either.

I agree. No one recruit will make/break a class. Finding a true tackle is always a tough task. Look at A&M. They could possibly have 3 top five OL picks in back to back to back drafts...

Joeckel>Matthews>Ogbuehe (sp?)

I definitely see where you're coming from though. Kahlil is a beast and Shy would would give us the best DL haul in the nation. I think both could be day 1 contributors.

Has Callahan ever been wrong?

They've all been wrong many times but Callahan doesn't flip from a Tennessee pick hardly ever and he wouldn't flip after all this time and so soon before the announcement unless he knew something he considered concrete from a source close to the recruit... Richmond is gone baby gone.

Looks like we were done here as soon as Freeze sent the Red Hat Society after Richmond's parents. I wonder what Leanne Tuohy is doing these days

Couple of questions:

1. Am I correct in understanding that Richmond does not plan to be an EE?

2. Has Richmond scheduled his OV to UT yet? Considering that he said he would be taking all his visits, I thought he might be making plans for one of UT's bigger home games (e.g., Alabama).

It really doesn't matter who he announces for IMHO, this will go all the way up to NSD. Moral of the story is don't be a freaking idiot if he announces Ole Miss.

Richmond will make his decision based on what is right for him. Being closer to home is the right decision for some kids. It's no secret that something special is happening with the Vols now. There is a reason we are ranked #7 in recruiting and Old Missed are #64. If he chooses a second class program like Missed, he gets what he wanted. No need for a meltdown if he doesn't choose the Vols. CBJ will just go out and get someone just as good or maybe even better. Remember Robertson from last year. It will happen. Our OL will be better with or without Richmond. I just hope Richmond comes to the Vols and becomes part of our future success.

If I were Richmond Id take the money up front and then switch on NSD, what is Ole Piss gonna do ask for it back?
