If it involves fishing and boats it will be implied that alcohol will additionally be present.
I'm not sure the word "responsible" covers that or not.
I taught both of my kids how to operate and load the boat sent them to get their safety certificate and everything. Now that they are in their 20s and don't join us as much I've taught my friend's 16yo daughter since they are usually with us.
Responsibility takes many forms.
No, I think I've maintained the steadfast argument that until all the facts are known, perhaps we shouldn't be damning all LEOs and wishing they would burn alive.
If this was unprovoked, and I don't want to hear this "private property" nonsense because that argument is asinine when we're talking about a child potentially in danger, then said officer should be held into account.
Just like the thread from the other day about the Craigslist ride along thing, until all the facts come out, it's probably better to reserve judgment.
So where do you stand Hog?
62 percent of the SWAT raids surveyed were to conduct searches for drugs.
Just under 80 percent were to serve a search warrant, meaning eight in 10 SWAT raids were not initiated to apprehend a school shooter, hostage taker, or escaped felon (the common justification for these tactics), but to investigate someone still only suspected of committing a crime.
In fact, just 7 percent of SWAT raids were for hostage, barricade, or active shooter scenarios.
Is this the purpose of swat teams? New ACLU report takes a snapshot of police militarization in the United States - The Washington Post
Proving my point that people like you have no respect for the rights of others. Private property is serious business, even more so now that government, including law enforcement, continues to water down the individual rights of citizens. The 4th Amendment is a shell of its former self, and that's all the more clear with border patrol checkpoints 60 miles from any international border, license checkpoints, DUI checkpoints, etc. And now this jackboot just decides he's gonna hop a man's fence and shoot his dog.
In your mind this was justified because a child was allegedly missing. It's all about the greater good, right? The plain and simple fact is this cop had no right to enter someone else's property. And if you're going to do it, you need to be able to handle a domesticated animal. The cops have become pussified, fat, and lazy over the years as standards have dropped.
You know, you and a couple of others have known me longer than most here on VN. Going right back to the days of the old Gruden threads when I signed up. We got along well enough back in those days, joked around with each other and generally were civil and social.
Until you found out what my profession was and then automatically decided I was a dick and started acting like a douche. So what exactly changed? Did I do something along the way to you, other than exposing my chosen profession, for your attitude to change in such a drastic fashion?
So other than what I happen to have done for a living, why the sudden change of heart? I don't need friends Sam, and don't count anyone on here as such. So don't take this as a request for approval because I won't shed a tear and wouldn't even notice if you were gone tomorrow.
I just want to know why you believe that someone automatically is different because of what they chose to pursue in their life. And furthermore, what your profession happens to be that makes you even more superior to me in that regard.
No, my perspective changed once I found out what a douche you are with people that disagree with you. You're not doing a hell of a lot to prove me wrong btw.
Perspective is a wonderful tool for clarity in seeing one's own deep set hatred and ingrained prejudice against a certain group.
But probably not. Like others on here, I'm a dreamer sometimes. I give Huff a lot of **** over it, but I'll give him credit for staying the course on some of his ideals.
Oh, right.
My bad...no, you pretty much started this when you found out what I did for a living. At least how I remember it.
Could be wrong, but you're not helping matters either. Two way street and all.
You are such a freaking fool. One of my life's mentors is an Alcoa City police officer. I love him and respect him like a father. My opinion of him has not changed ever. My opinion changed of you once you exposed yourself as a complete shill for an overreaching police force that resorts to insults to try to prove your points. Disagree with me all you want. I enjoy differing points of view for the most part. And I will have discussions with people I disagree with as long as the conversation doesn't turn personal. I think you'll see a pattern of me disagreeing with people in a relatively humble manner until the insults start.
I think if you internalized this a little bit, you would find that perhaps your reaction to differing opinions might have played a role in my perception of you. Go ahead and think it is because of your profession if it makes you feel less culpable of how your a percieved on this forum.
This post is so full of fail I don't even know where to begin...
I'm so glad we pushed the reset button to actually discuss this in a rational manner. Seeing as you just can't live up to your end of the bargain, he's my retort.
It's people like you and Tourjours Pret and Sam that cause more problems with cops than they do with you. You're so blinded by your prejudice that you don't have the first clue what you are doing is far more damaging than doing nothing. Because as soon as one of the overwhelming majority of good cops gets on scene, people like you act like impudent douchbags and cause way more harm than good for someone trying to do a tough job. And the so called "divide" between LEO and citizens is made that much greater because you can't help yourself by acting like each and every cop wants nothing more than to go Rodney King on you. And those that are generally fair leave with a bad taste in their mouth because morons like you case trouble. I certainly won't ever deny there are bad cops out there. But unfortunately you won't ever admit that what you are doing is just as wrong as what bad cops do.
But overall? You're a coward, plain and simple. You can't do this job because you aren't mature or man enough to do this job. Straight up truth. You'd rather hide behind a computer screen and rant about it instead of actually trying to make a difference by joining a force and stopping the bad cops out there. Or on the other hand, actually going up to a cop and saying your personal feelings right in their face. Nothing stopping you except for cowardice. But I also know that people like you are the first to run to cops when you get your ass handed to you in a fight and cry about it. You don't like cops until you really need one. So one of two things, STFU with your coward comments behind the safety of your computer screen or be a man and go up to a cop and tell them what's on your mind. Hell, you can even come out here and do it. Open invitation to my house to come discuss the matter in person.
You don't know me, you don't know what I've done or what I stand for. All you know is "cop" even though we are probably more alike politically and on Rights than you will ever admit. And you simply cannot get over your own ignorance to see that for every bad cop, there are dozens of good ones and some even great ones. And last, but certainly not least, don't ever call the cops when your kid goes missing or something happens to a family member or someone takes offense at you running your mouth. Because I wouldn't want you to give up your moral high ground by stooping so low as to actually ask for help.
Speaking of which, what is your job anyway? Or are you too embarrassed to say because your profession isn't perceived as honorable either?
And that perception is? That I'm an opinionated ******* that speaks his mind and calls a spade a spade?
Sue me.
The militarization of the police in this country is a serious problem for folks keen on civil liberties.
The solution is simple, eliminate all federal dollars going to local police forces. No more APC's and other implements of war. There is no reason to have such equipment on the streets of America. Agree and disagree. Some of the equipment, body armor for example, is highly useful and I don't think it crosses the civil liberties line. The armored vehicles I can agree with to an extent. Depending on their use like for tactical teams, I would agree. If used for other purposes, like EOD techs and whatnot (they use the vehicles as cover) I can see using the military surplus to assist.
Also, make the police follow whatever gun laws that are on the books in their states. For instance, if a state bans regular capacity mags, the police has to follow those rules as well. Agree
The largest thing that causes the most problems in this country from a law enforcement prospective is the drug war. It is simply a failed policy and to many non-violent "offenders" are locked up each year because of it. Won't disagree, but there's not an easy path through it acceptable to both parties
Of course, we could also eliminate the state and do away with it all but that's a discussion for another time lol
Well, it's not like you're a super great ambassador yourself. I wish I knew where you were so that we could take you off your cross and stop your suffering. Must be very difficult being such a heroic martyr.
No, my perspective changed once I found out what a douche you are with people that disagree with you. You're not doing a hell of a lot to prove me wrong btw.
