Is it ok to be a proud father, even if i'm not his father?

I am a father, and i'm proud of your son......so i'm running with it.

:good!:

It's kinda weird but junior feels like our collective kid because Volatil has expressed his story, his ups, downs, losses, and triumphs so very well. I think we all feel proud of him.

Get him into programming and you could have the next Bill Gates or Mark Zuckerberg on your hands.

This is what I'm pushing him to do, he has been in love with and able to navigate a computer since he was 2. He says he wants to be a video game designer. I may not get sports out of him, but he digs on some science, biology and physics topics and that we have in common.

CHEERS! Completely agree! :hi:

Any chance we get a commitment this weekend?

We did.

Three generations of Volatils committed today. The only issue is that we will probably only sign the youngest one in 2017.

Ok Volatil, just now caught up in this thread. I'm tickled to death for you guys! Sounds like jr did well. Enjoyed the reports.

Unfortunately, video game designers are a dime a dozen and actually don't make all too much. He should be a programmer. They roll it in.

Speaking as a professional developer for almost 25 years I cannot echo this enough. It's a good profession, and I still love it. There have definitely been ups and downs in the profession (early 90's and early 2000's), but new innovations are always coming out that keep it going. In the early 2000's no one ever thought you could do with your phone what you can now, let alone the concept of a tablet being mainstream (yes, there were plenty of failed tablets before the iPad). However, that being said the job isn't always easy. New hires usually start at the bottom, doing maintenance of legacy applications or support (24/7) and working crazy long hours to get the next release out. Lots of meetings, working with crazy (sometime downright weird) people. It can be fun and rewarding work, and is a great long term profession with progression into management, but also isn't for everyone.

That is perfectly fine. Everyone has different interests and a large number of people are not athletes. Your son will go farther in life with education, biology and physics than he will with a few years of sports in his youth.

Wow gruden is tiny

Last post before battery dies.

One of the best days of my life.

My kid is kicking where legends have played. I'm man enough to admit a tear has been shed.

Talk to y'all later.

Thanks volatil for letting us in on your awesome day! If it was my son standing out there on the field where many of the greatest have played, I would need a whole box of tissues. or maybe someone else's sleeve. :cray:

My Flash Vikings shirt/jersey thing came in today. Some random site sold it and the dude didn't speak very much English. It's like a jersey style (the numbers and name stick out) but shirt material. Not the best threading either, but I can now represent some NFL Vols. I'm stoked. Not bad and I feel bad for the Chinese kids who made it, but it was $25 well spent if you ask me. It also took over a month to get here

Aliexpress? thats my ish

Yep. Pretty cool place honestly. Id order again if they had another shirt I wanted. Can you get any player? That was the only CP shirt I found on the Internet

Pretty much any player you can dream of for around $30 or less. The jerseys are really high quality though for sure. Def worth the wait

We're home. Long day. Full update on the behind the scenes to come. Gruden was in the house, Jr talked with Butch (Butch remembered him), high praise from Alan Duncan and coach Elder.

I will fill in the blanks later.

Yeah I don't like real jerseys but this mix is cool. Wearing it now just to do it. I need to look into a few others. Id love to get a James Dolphin jersey or a Hunter Titans jersey then a few Falcons ones. 4 for 100 or a little over is awesome.

Things happened pretty fast. I didn't get to talk with Jr until we got into the car.

After lunch Butch walks in to address the campers. While telling me this Jr paused and said "Butch is going to lead us back dad. He is going to win multiple national championships here because he loves it. The guy knows how to talk to recruits. He had everyone in the room ready to sign papers right now."

I told y'all the story about Butch recruiting Jennings at Blackman and Jr running over to him in the weight room. Well Butch remembered Jr. During his speech, he walks over and says "I remember you from Blackman". Jr had to refresh him on the name of course, but Butch says to him in front of all the campers "what separates you from all the kickers in the nation?" Jr responded "my work ethic. I will out work everyone." Jones looked at him and said "I like it".

After lunch the campers broke up into there respective age groups. Alan Duncan was leading the younger kickers in which Jr fell into this category. They watched film of them kicking in the first session. Duncan pointed out to the campers one of Junior's kicks. Duncan "you young guys want to know what form you should have, it's right here". Duncan told Jr that he had the best form he saw all day.

Before leaving for Neyland, Jr said they were walking out of the meeting room and he noticed a guy with a terrible haircut. It was Jon Gruden.

Guys, words can't do justice for the well wishes you all have given. Today was incredible. It was great that all these great things happened for Jr. It was even better that my dad witnessed it. He has had a rough year. Been hospitalized 3 times. He has good and bad days. I tell Jr to live in this day. It's great to have goals but do something special with THIS day. I don't know what will happen with Jr in the future. He may never even see the field in HS, but for THIS day he kicked in Neyland Stadium and his Grandfather was there to see it.
