I just wanna go on record as saying (addition to my earlier post) that the main DLman I'm looking forward to seeing on Shields-Watkins Field is #52, Joey Rush. Kid's first step is a bottle of nitroglycerin, shoved down into a brick of C4 wrapped around a stick of dynamite. I ain't gonna be the one to compare him to Leonard Little, but I'd be willing to bet the comparison's made more'n a few times before he leaves UT.

Okay guy`s, I know we have a lot of questions about our D-line.
Which one would you pick:
1. Little/Limited talent but 3-4 years of experience
2. Loads of talent but no experience

Option #2. Might have some bumps in the road at first but they will reach their potential quicker by getting on the field.

Joey is going to be a great end for us this year. I'm very excited to see him on third downs. I think he will start there.

I actually think the FF is far more negative than the recruiting forum right now. But really, I think we have a healthy blend of optimists and pessimists in both forums.

I just wish both sides could live and let live a little more instead of basically calling one another idiots for whichever side they take. Nothing wrong with being a sunshine pumping optimist (that's just part of being a fan) or being a down in the doldrums 'nattering nabob of negativity' as the old saying goes (that's a justifiable position given what we've been through).

Yet, all too often rather than making a reasonable argument for or against a positive or negative outlook on the season/position/player/whatever, which might actually be productive and a lot of fun, people just end up lecturing others on how they should feel which is a futile endeavor, imo.

Sunshiners gon' pump sunshine and rain dancers gon' bring the rain. Or something like that. :)

It reminds me of a twisted Orange Crush version of 'The Road Warrior'.

I asked this earlier in the year I'll ask again. Is DL, OL, or QB our biggest concern?

DL all the way. I really think our QB and line will be better than most think.

I think it's easier for freshman to play on the defensive side of the line more than the offensive. More rotations and less being put on an island like at offensive tackle.

SIAP, Trey Matthews is gone for UGA. Headed to auburn or Louisville.

I think all three are concerns relative to where we want to be as a program. Relative to last year, I think QB will be better and DL may be the same (which was pretty bad) or somewhat better. I think there will be a noticeable drop off from last year at OL, with us giving up a ton of sacks, etc. I'm betting on 35+ sacks allowed this year. Not sure how that will affect our W/L though as we should have a lot of improvements elsewhere.

Okay, I'm on a computer now. Let's start with the dramatis personae, shall we?? ...

And oh, yeah.......GO BIG ORANGE.

I sorted the current roster by 247 Composite rating, then filtered for DE and DT. Here are the results:

It is just amazing to me the lack of talent we have in our upperclassmen on the DL. I just hope our new guys learn fast. We are definitely a class or 2 away from having the right kind of depth needed to consistently compete on a high level.

I agree. I think we're going to see some young guys step up early. If raw talent trumps experience, we should be good.

#2 is my pick.
Experience comes with time. Talent you either have it or you don`t.

It's not the lack of experience or talent that concerns me about our young DL. I just don't think physically they will be ready to compete consistently at a high level.

I really thought Danny O would show out this spring and be ready to blow up this season.. Hoping he'll contribute big this fall. We need it.
