'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

They say that we don't need a DT QB because of our WRs and TEs.

We have a DT QB in Jennings. He is plenty athletic enough to carry it 5-6 times a game if needed. He has been working on his passing skills on the camp scene. People feel he has made improvement already from last year. Tennessee coaches took his commitment early. I think they like him.

Frankly I don't have the patience for playing games at QB recruiting.

I'm over it

I'm calling it out!

I think Francois and Waller are better QB prospects than Gibson. That said, I don't think we are seriously in play for either. JMO

Yup. I will say now so that no one can put it against me:

Gibson has the highest ceiling of any QB prospect we are in on. He has a truly special amount of natural athleticism and can sling the leather a country mile.

But that is IF he takes to being an actual QB. He would have to sit at least one year to get to the level where he would be ready to start and not completely ruin his progression as a QB. We not only want our guys to get us wins but also to make it to the league so that our recruiting will get a boost. Having athleticism always increases the theoretical ceiling of a QB, but we aren't AU or OSU. Neither of their current QB's will even get drafted if they don't make serious progression this year.

If we didn't have Jennings already I would be all over the TG bandwagon, but I honestly like Jennings more. He has shown a greater desire to hone his QB skill set than TG thus far. With how vocal TG is we would know if he was busting his ass to become a better QB like Jennings is, but we haven't heard anything about that. One of the last things to come out about him as a QB was where he was moved to WR at a camp because he was so bad.

Be glad that nobody on VN is on the staff. There are some on here that think they know more than the staff does when evaluating talent.

And there are some on here that think the services' listing of recruits is the end all be all as well. Because those people think we should only go after the "big name" recruits that have been identified by services...

Yea I know, why should we trust our coaches when they are recruiting somebody?

Completely agree. Our coaches go after who they want not who the fans want because said recruit is a sexy name. The coaches also know to never stop recruiting a position even if they have no intention of taking someone because anything can happen in recruiting. Our coaches are pretty smart guys.

The thing is though, this guy is actually a big name. If he had played last year he would be top 100 in every service. Hell 247 has him as the 5th pass pro QB and he didn't even play.

Also I trust this staff much much more than I ever did Dooley's. They identify the talent and then everyone else follows suite instead of always being the follower.

I agree. They are doing a fine job for the most part.

explain the staffs thinking to us please?

we gonna make this poor man run around the edge on a run fake every time?

I invite you to read through this thread, or maybe do a little research on what CBJ likes to do with his QB's. This guy is plenty athletic enough to keep the read-option 3-5 times a game.

Even though I meant everything said in that post it was kinda done in a "passive aggressive" style as the original post was kinda picking fun at BOT.

As a side note I have posted too damn many posts in this thread and I have had to be too damn serious lately due to all the QB recruiting loons.

Matt Williams does not have a commitable scholarship offer. . . If he did he would already be committed.

Doesn't really make sense why we offered him. Why didn't we treat him like Jocquez Bruce or someone like that, who we like but we have to see more of. Why offer when they can't commit.

well I agree

but Butch don't

he turned a 1st round nose tackle into a 6th round pick and not to mention what he did to the offense yet still only won 5 games

he's gonna play his game .... stubborn SOB

The ignorance in this post is strong.

i watched every play last year and I watched Worley run around the edge on every hand off
