'15 Fl QB Deondre Francois

On the local news during the sports segment, they showed a piece of film on Francois and I came away very impressed. He is only 6' or 6'1" but that has absolutely no affect on his arm strength.

Yes please!

That being said, I would be ecstatic with Gibson too. :p

D.Francois is #2 on UT's QB Recruiting Board per VolQuest.com.

Deondre Francois QB, 6-1/192, Bradenton, Fla.

The Vols have turned up the heat on Francois the last few months as he's become a top target for Tennessee. Ohio State, Auburn, Florida State, Oregon and Tennessee round out his top five at this point and he plans on visiting the Buckeyes, Tigers and Vols in the near future. He also hopes to make a trip to Oregon.

Francois will decided at The Opening in early July and his summer visits will go a long way to determining where he ends up. He recently admitted that Tennessee is recruiting him the hardest, followed by the instate Seminoles.

What are the big time similarities and differences between Francois and Gibson?

I'll take a stab...cliff notes version.....

Gibson- 6'4, dual threat, freakish athlete, very strong arm but better with his legs than throwing the ball

Francois- 6'1, more pocket/prostyle, can be also categorized as a dual threat due to above average athletic ability, just not to Gibson's level. Better with his arm, in the pocket than with his feet.

Francois is extremely more polished and more accurate as a passer as well. That may have been what you meant by "better woth his arm".

Gibson has 5* potential down the road with the right coaching and preparation, while Francois has 4* ability right now. All things being equal (coaching, work ethic, opportunity), Gibson has a much higher ceiling given his supreme athleticism, but probably a much lower floor considering how raw he is as a QB.

According to analysts, Francois has some of his own accuracy issues that don't show up on highlight film. It can be fixed though. It's prob more of a learning when to not try and show off that rocket arm he has.

Francois also has a quick release, huge arm, and throws his man open.

You don't see many high schoolers do some of the things he does.

I want a kid that can fling it in the pocket personally. The running is secondary, maybe even tertiary. If we have an athletic guy who can tuck it and run 4-5 times a game then great. Bottom line is, he has to be able to make plays with his arm first and foremost. Sounds to me that maybe Francois fits the bill a little better. That being said, I'll take either at the end of the day.

Francois has a similar game to Russell Wilson

Gibson is more of an athlete playing QB even though I think he's a lot better passer than people give him credit for

The other quarterback Florida targeted heavily this cycle – Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy’s*Deondre Francois*– was a bit of a disappointment for Roper at his scrimmage last Thursday. With Florida’s new offensive coordinator looking on, Francois struggled completing many passes on the day. Apparently Roper still likes Francois’ physical tools, but his showing in the live 11-on-11 did raise some red flags. Gator Bait247
