HBO's "Game of Thrones"

Ned was already wounded in the leg by one of Jamie's goons during their street brawl.

To clarify the "Trial by Combat" notion, keep in mind that when you choose this you forego a verdict. So if you think the verdict will go in your favor, there's no sense in electing a trial by combat. Tyrion knew the verdict wouldn't go in his favor, he knew it at the Vale too. Ned was under the impression he was going to be allowed to live, he allowed the verdict so his daughters wouldn't be fatherless.

So basically, if you're going to win the case, you don't do a trial by combat and risk your accusers picking someone like The Mountain to fight against you or your champion.

After watching Tywin's behavior over the last two episodes, I'm convinced that he at least knew about the Joffrey assassination before hand.

He's clearly way too eager to pin this on Tyrion

He could've planned all that out to get Kingslayer to takeover wherever he is sending him and setting up his lineage for his family but was outsmarted by his nemesis dwarf son.

Good episode, enjoyable and kept things moving along nicely. I haven't read the books, so I'm just speculating. If I guess something right, you guys who have read the books, keep quiet.

I think it was the bald guy who set up Shae's testimony. He promised Tyrian he would keep her safe and by testifying against him, she is now protected.

I think Tywin will pick The Mountain to be the crown's champion. He doesn't want to risk Jamie, now that Jamie has agreed to leave the kings watch, however, I think Jamie will step in as Tyrian's champion (or at least try to). But, Prince Obyern will step down from the judge's seat and stand in as Tyrian's champion, setting up an epic fight between brute strength and skill. Just my guess.

This is what I'm hoping for. The previews show Oberyn and the Mountain fighting, I hope this is the reason why.

He didn't have that deal at the beginning of his imprisonment though.

Right, but he was presented with the option to confess his "crime" and take the nights watch. So he didn't go with a trial because he thought he was going to be sent to the Watch, he didn't realize how much of a ---- Joffery was and boom, there went his head. However killing Ned could have been one of the smartest things Joffery had done. The war was inevitable. While it seems that it sped up the clock to zero hour, it turned into the best solution for the Lannisters. If Ned had made it North, it would not have been long before he retook his control of the North. Having that experience would have prevented Robb from doing things that eventually got his throat cut.

Purely hypothetical of course.

You really think that if the honorable Eddard Stark had been ordered to take the black he would not have done just that?

I was watching the trial when Shae was testifying against Tyrion thinking about the time in Tyrion's childhood when Tywin screwed Tyrion over on his first love, telling Tyrion that she was a whore. Tywin Lannister is a dbag that has it coming, I hope.

What truly bothers me is I had someone spoil a bit ahead for me (nothing major) but its enough to where this is a huge deal and infuriates me even more.

However, now that Tywin has all but been marked expendable thanks to the Iron Bank, I have a feeling that tons of death are coming. I have 5 wild predictions for the rest of this, I don't think its spoilers because its my guess, but eh, be warned just in case

*****

1. Tywin dies this season, and it throws kings landing into even more turmoil. Either by Tyrion, Jaime, or someone for Baratheon.

2. Oberyon dies fighting for Tyrion against the mountain, but poisons his weapon before hand (he's a master of poisons, remember?) so he still gets his revenge.

3. Sansa stops being useless and kills her aunt or robin (maybe both) and then Littlefinger tries to use her as a bargaining chip for the rest of the north.

4. Mama Tyrell gets caught, because Baelish rats her out, and it starts an all out war which leads to....

5. Baratheon finds more troops and starts his invasion and wins (maybe not this season but eventually) setting up an actual challenge for Daenarys.

Pretty sound theories. I know that regardless of how it turns out, the fight between Oberyn and The Mountain will be great.

I'm still upset with the waitress that told me something. Now I know the results of some things without knowing how they get there.

It really has taken some of the fun out.

It was mentioned by Tyrion during Pod's visit that Tywin is good at making lemonade out of life's lemons. Life had just handed him a way to be rid of the son who he has wanted to rid himself of for years. The scene with Jaime made it clear to me anyway that he has no interest in actually killing Tyrion.

If Tyrion can have Jaime as his second in his trial by combat, that would put Tywin in a hard spot. If Jaime loses (is killed) the family line dies. If Jaime wins, Tyrion goes free. I see this as one way that Tyrion gets out of this.

Holy crap man....wasn't able to watch it until last night.

Tyrion just propelled himself to my favorite character on TV, by far.

Here's an off the wall question....Do you guys think that if Tyrion just went along with the plan that Tywin would've stuck to the deal that he and Jaime came to??

Yes. Tywinn is not Joffrey. And the only reason he agreed to it is to get Jaime to go rule at Casterly Rock, so the motivation is there.

As twisted and flawed as Tywin is, he's a man of his word (to a disturbing level).

Tyrion's rant to the council and the crowd was epic. I had goosebumps afterwards.
