@Ben_Fred: Southern Miss signee Willie Carmichael (6-7 F) says he officially requested release from NLI. #Vols would be atop list if there's interest.

Suarez and Carmichael wanna play together, looks like Tyndall wants Suarez as that's why he backed out on ronnie, but how high is Carmichael on his list becomes the question?

Sounds to me like its a done deal once he gets his release. Who knows if CDT confirmed it or its wishful thinking by carmichael but reading between the lines it sounds like carmichael is a vol already.

We'll see what happens, I feel the chances of Suarez being a Vol are higher than carmichaels

I can agree with this. Suarez seems to be the only PG we are banking on. CDT knows Carmichael is his for the taking. We are in on Cofer and Owens who are both rated higher. I wrote somewhere else that we will see sooner rather than later if CDT slow plays Carmichael. If he does, then that seems like confirmation we have a great shot at either Cofer or Owens IMO.

What Tyndall had to say on Carmichael when he signed with USM...

“Willie is a long, athletic, front-line player. He can play a couple different positions. He’s a great athlete who plays with a high motor. He reminds me of a young Kenneth Faried, in that he plays extremely hard. He runs the floor and is not afraid to compete at the highest level.”

Carmichael has asked for his release but not Suarez at this point. If they both become Vols I was certainly hoping to get Ellis and Cofer as well. That would be five recruits. Then there is Punter who I'd like to have also.

PG-Suarez,Thompson
SG-Hubbs, Punter
C-Ellis, Cofer, Pops
PF-Davis, McGhee, Reese
WF-Richardson, Moore, Carmichael

The new USM coach is making a strong bid to keep Suarez and other recruits to remain with USM. The scuttlebutt is that Suarez wants to be released, but the new coach is trying really hard to keep him. Maybe Carmichael can sway him away. We will see.

If Carmichael leaves, Suarez is gone too. They want to play together...Willie tweeted to him "wherever me and you end up we going to damage hopefully we be on the same team". If we get one of them, we get them both and I'll take them.:crossfingers:

Beginning to think and this is just my opinion, that Cofer not sticking maybe a mistake on his part.

It is nothing personal, but Carmichael and Owens maybe bigger fish? It's hard to get a read on this.

Is Suarez holding out or is USM slow releasing him. My understanding is he hasn't requested his release yet?

His comments on twitter sounds like he is waiting on Tennessee which can't if he is not released or is he trying to keep Carmichael at USM.

I think Suarez is having a harder time deciding, but will ultimately ask his release. He's kind of like our Cofer in that their coach is trying to meet with him and talk before releasing him.

I think the staff likes Owens, probably more so than Cofer or Carmichael, but that's just a gut feeling.

Thanks I would like to see all 4 here but there is not enough room at the Inn.

I think ideally, yes because of his skill set and length, but we haven't put the "full court press" on him as of yet.

Which makes me ask why??

If Cofer's gonna take some visits and drag things out, and you're not all that high on Carmichael...what's left?

Owens is the guy that had the least familiarity with CDT or UT. Obviously, CDT signed Carmichael at USM and Jabari was being pursued hard by CDT at USM as well. Although Cofer didn't know much about CDT, he's a legacy guy. I'm thinking that it was about playing the percentages with a small window of opportunity left. With Cofer still thinking through his options and Ellis not a sure thing, I think this is why we are seeing picked up interest.
