2014 Illinois PG Larry Austin (Tennessee Commit 8/1)

Haha. That is false. The incoming freshman were going to do VERY LITTLE to have any impact on the the team this year. Austin might have made an impact this season. Others would not. And as far as Austin's impact, I can only assume that he has a specific PG in mind to bring in that in Tyndall's mind will have as much/more of an impact than Austin.

I sure hope your right. But this kid has a higher ceiling than his 3 star rating would indicate. imo

How so? Austin, at worst, would immediately be the backup PG, to a sophomore who looked lost at times. We have no frontline depth, and with his athleticism, Cofer would play minutes. We do have to be patient, but I would not understand letting those 2 loose unless they wanted out. JMO.

As I noted, I think Austin was the one member of the class that could have made a meaningful contribution this season. That is why I said it must be obvious Tyndall has a PG that he will bring in that HE likes better than Austin. Will that work out? Don't know but all we can do is wait and see. The other 3 members would have made almost no contribution this season. Cofer could but if he is counted on this season that is exactly the evidence of how bad our roster is right now. Cofer will get bullyed on defense and his offensive game is very limited. Now he has great potential and down the road could become a great player. But the original question was talking about our roster for next season. And on top of that, Cofer is still with us and most indication is that he will remain a part of this class.

What makes you think that Tyndall's offenses are high scoring or more so than Martin's? The evidence suggests otherwise.

I understand being patient, but we have no frontline right now. Reese and Davis are stretch 4's and Pops is the only one. By definition, Cofer would play. Even if you look at Tyndall's current recruits at USM, the 3 star forward is 195 pounds. Unless he has someone else in mind...

Perhaps DT will be bringing in recruits that fit his system and would allow for a better chance to win. I know...not the VN way to give the new coach the benefit of the doubt and think that he may actually have a plan.

That's great, but what about the upcoming season? It's too late to get anyone now.

Okay, so who did you think was going to start at the 5 this season? Pops? Laughable.

Really? So, the guys that are decommitting from us are the only unsigned players left?

The only ones worth a damn. Name some names UT can get in on. I'll wait.

Anyone we remotely would have a shot at is signed.

I guess we should just give up, take our ball and go home since we have no chance of signing anyone who can hoop.:cray::lolabove:

I'm not sure we have the same tone. I'm not freaking out at all. However, that doesn't change the fact that losing these recruits for the upcoming season is going to have a big effect.

Feel free to overreact again though if it makes you feel better.

I'm not the one whining that there aren't any good recruits left to sign, but whatever.

If there's so many why not name 5 or 6?

You know, 5 or 6 who are either ranked and aren't already down to a final list, or maybe some JUCOs available with multiple high major offers?

Ju Juan Smith was not highly rated but did very well under a good coach like pearl. Let the guy coach. Something we really have not seen much of around here the last few years.

wait wait wait...

I get it now, CDT sucks and the recruits that decommitted are awesome. CDT does not have a clue as to how to evaluate talent yet Tennessee doesn't have a shooter on the roster nor do they have a post player that can actually play dead.

Two sides to every story folks - two sides - truth can be found in the middle.

So in review...

Devonte Graham- already down to a final list of schools.

Muhammad- doesn't have multiple high major offers.

Kevin Punter- still a Missouri commitment

Jaquel Richmond- doesn't have the grades to get into the SEC

Rokas Gustys- down to 3 schools, none of which are TN.

David Wacker- the Boise State commit David Wacker?

Tristan Etienne- the Washington commit Tristan Etienne?

So in summary, you proved my point.

What was the name of the player that played for Tennessee out of prison on work release. Who was the coach that did it. Devoe I think.

So in summary, you proved my point.

You asked for 5 or 6 recruits that TN may be able to get in on. None of the ones that I listed are signed anywhere else, they all have visits left that they could take and with a new coach at TN may be willing to listen and take a look. Have you learned nothing by watching Butch recruit? Just because they may have a current list, doesn't mean they have shut down talking to others.

And, you will notice that I didn't say anything about any of the USM recruits that CDT may yet speak with.
